The return of Dan
A YEAR after his controversial parting with the company he founded, former Krell supremo Dan D’Agostino is back in business with a new outfit. Everything’s in a name, and what better way to say it than Dan D’Agostino Inc.
The company’s very first product is the 300-watt Momentum monoblok amplifier, priced at a whopping US$42,000 (RM130,000 before shipping and duties) and sporting a “green” approach – at the other end of the early Krell spectrum!
The amp is built and hand-tested in the United States, and designed for very low standby power consumption. A preamp is expected soon which will take into account the current movement towards music stored on computers and hard drives.
“With Dan D’Agostino Inc, I want to focus on making high-end audio products more user-friendly in every way,” D’Agostino said in a press release on the company’s website.
“These components are much more compact than the ones I’ve developed in the past, thanks in part to some innovative cooling technology. They interoperate flawlessly, so they’re much easier to use than typical highend audio electronics.
“Dan D’Agostino products are also environmentally friendly and consume far less power at idle than most high-quality audio products do. For example, the standby power consumption of the new Momentum amplifier is less than one watt.”
No distributor network has been announced on the site yet; browsers can direct themselves to www.dagostinoinc.com.
Keep on rolling: Dan D’Agostino’s new amp, the Momentum.
