THE fall season often conjures sombre images of grey fashion and drab colours. At Liz Claibourne New York however, the spirit is lighter and more uplifting, with emphasis on the deep and dark shades of seasonal flora such as burgundy, berry, plum and pink. Stripes, patterns and plaids mingle with rich colours to create feminine styles, enhanced with lacy trims and playful pleats. Regardless of the season, the message that Liz Claibourne is sending out is: fashion is fun.

The new collection, inspired by a woman’s classic beauty, also draws from the staple hues of black and white, with daring splashes of red providing the occasional backdrop. Details like ruffles, zippers and mesh cutouts are thrown in for good measure, and there’s even some animal prints to indulge your wild side.

There are wearable pieces for every body type, so that different women have a chance to express themselves differently.

There are also some classic pieces with an elegant spiel, in deep violets, reds and creams, seen in ladylike designs and dramatic necklines. Colour blocking is back in a big way, as is cable.

Not forgetting the cold weather, there are luscious sweaters and outerwear in functional styles for the season.

A new Liz Claiborne New York 65sq m store has just opened in Parkson Pavilion, Kuala Lumpur, offering an extensive range of women’s apparel and accessories.

The brand teamed up with retail design and branding company Kramer Design Group to develop the consumer experience. Customers have a clear view of the store’s interior and the white-on-white backdrop provides the canvas for Liz Claiborne New York’s colourful apparel and coordinating accessories to suit lifestyle needs, stated Brad Lenz, vice president Liz Claiborne New York international stores, in a press release.

Inspired by the work of the late interior designer Dorothy Draper, the shop interior at Parkson Pavilion adds a modern twist to ornate, Baroque flourishes for a fresh, bright but familiar feel. Feminine fixtures and rack treatments give customers the impression that they’re walking through a clothes-filled closet.
