Wonder Girls to stage first concert in Malaysia.
AFTER its 27-stop tour in the United States and Canada, all-girl South Korean pop group Wonder Girls is set to thrill Malaysian fans with its first concert here on Dec 11. They will be performing at Arena Of Stars, Genting Highlands.
Debuting in early 2007 with mini-album The Wonders Begin, the five-member pop group was introduced through the programmme, MTV Wonder Girls, which was filmed and directed by MTV.
This was followed by the release of the group’s first full album The Wonder Years in September of which its main track Tell Me was a huge hit.
The group has also undergone some line-up changes and now comprises Sun-Ye, Ye-Eun, So-Hee, Yu-Bin and Hye-Rim.
It released its single So Hot in June 2008, followed by Nobody a few months later, which became one of the most popular songs of the year. Its unique choreography and dance steps sparked a viral dance craze around the world.
Wonder Girls marked its career milestone by being the first act from Asia to enter the American music chart Billboard Hot 100 in 30 years with its infectious Nobody, which peaked at No.76.
The group also scooped numerous awards at the 18th Seoul Music Awards, including Artiste Of The Year, Best Female Group and Best Music Video. It won a lot of exposure in the United States touring with Jonas Brothers in 2009 giving 45 live performances. It recently made a successful comeback to the Korean music scene with 2 Different Tears, which has conquered numerous online and offline music charts.
The 1st Wonder Wonder Girls Concert Live In Malaysia 2010 will be staged at Arena of Stars, Genting Highlands, on Dec 11 at 8pm. The Malaysian leg of the concert tour is jointly organised by Star Planet, Hua Yea Multimedia and Speedy Entertainment.
Concert tickets are selling at RM420, RM320, RM280, RM250, RM180 and RM130, starting this Sunday with a 10% discount for purchase via ticket outlets, phone or Internet booking.
Customers who visit the ticketing counter at Sungei Wang Plaza Concourse in Kuala Lumpur on the day between 11am and 8pm for tickets will receive a 15% discount.
