Three new cam­eras from Le­ica

LO­CAL Le­ica cam­era dis­trib­u­tor, Sch­midt Mar­ket­ing Malaysia has launched a new range of Le­ica cam­eras in the mar­ket: the Le­ica X1, D-Lux 5 and V-Lux 2.

The Le­ica X1 is a unique com­pact cam­era with a large 12.9megapixel APS-C sen­sor, sim­i­lar to those used in DSLR cam­eras.

Avail­able in steel-grey or black, the X1 is pri­mar­ily made of metal and dec­o­rated with a high qual­ity leather-trim.

It comes with a fast shoot­ing 24mm f/ 2.8 fixed-mount lens and of­fers a max­i­mum ISO sen­si­tiv­ity of 3200.

The cam­era’s 2.7in LCD dis­play of­fers live-view shoot­ing and it also fea­tures a re­tractable flash for tak­ing pic­tures in the low light set­tings.

The X1 also of­fers man­ual con­trol op­tions for ad­just­ing both aper­ture and shut­ter speed. The cam­era, which comes bun­dled with Adobe Pho­to­shop Light­room, is ex­pected to be avail­able next month. No pric­ing was an­nounced.

Mean­while the D-LUX 5 com­pact cam­era is iden­ti­cal to the Pana­sonic Lu­mix LX5. It has a 10.1megapixel sen­sor and a 24-90mm

Next is the Le­ica V-Lux 2, which is a 14.1-megapixel su­per zoom cam­era with a 25-600mm fo­cal length.

It has a list of fea­tures that in­clude a 3in swivel LCD dis­play for cre­ative com­po­si­tion, in­te­grated stereo mi­cro­phone and 11frames per sec­ond burst shoot­ing mode.

In ad­di­tion, the cam­era is ca­pa­ble of record­ing Full HD videos in 1080i-AVCHD for­mat.

The Le­ica V-Lux 2 comes bun­dled with Adobe Pho­to­shop El­e­ments and Adobe Premier El­e­ments. It re­tails for RM3,409.

Le­ica X1 fo­cal length. It fea­tures a click­wheel for ad­just­ing man­ual set­tings and of­fers var­i­ous au­to­matic modes for easy shoot­ing. The cam­era is also ca­pa­ble of 720p HD video record­ing in AVCHD Lite for­mat.

The Le­ica D-Lux 5 is now avail­able at au­tho­rised Le­ica deal­ers for RM3,159. The cam­era will come bun­dled with a li­cence for Adobe Pho­to­shop Light­room.
