The Yang women warriors film is just one of four being planned, says Apple Daily. Three rival versions are in the works, including one starring Fan Bingbing and Barbie Hsu and another starring Zhang Ziyi and Gong Li.
Cheung will also star in Stephen Chow’s The King Of Comedy 2, with her son Lucas, says the report.
And she will make a bundle. With a boom in the Chinese movie market, Hong Kong stars’ salaries have shot up dramatically in the past year, says Apple Daily.
Cheung will take home HK$15mil each for the Yang women warriors film and The King Of Comedy 2 and HK$10mil (RM4mil) each for the other two movies, says the report.
The men are making even more. Yen and Tony Leung Chiu Wai are taking home HK$30mil (RM12mil) a film this year, up from HK$15mil last year, and Andy Lau, HK$18mil (RM7.2mil), up from HK$10mil. – The Straits Times, Singapore/Asia News Network
