Let there be light

Celebrate Deepavali with these crowd-pleasing Indian dishes.

DEEPAVALI is the time when good triumphs over evil. The victory of light over darkness underlines the message of this holy festival.

“Light” may not be a word to describe the three recipes we have produced here, but they are all perfect for this celebration. The two savoury dishes from Veggie Chick and Marty will have your chubby Annai wiping off the sweat from his face with a hanky in his left hand as he digs into his food-laden plate with his right, while Hungry Caterpillar’s cold dessert might make everyone swoon from its creamy richness.

After all, no one will deny that feeding people and making them happy is a triumph of enormous proportions.

So lighten up, Deepavali is here.

Don’t Call Me Chef appears on the first Monday of every month. We can’t offer advice but we welcome feedback and suggestions on possible themes. You can also read the Don’t Call Me Chef column on Kuali.com.
