TO add to the Deepavali festivities, Astro has an exciting line-up of special shows and movies to keep viewers entertained.
For the first time, Astro is airing two Tamil movies in high definition – Sivaji The Boss (starring Rajinikanth) and Amba Samutram Ambani (starring Karunaas and Kotta Srinivasa Rao) from now till next Tuesday.
The movies are aired on a special channel, OLI HD (Channel 222), for Astro subscribers who have B.yond HD.
Astro will also be airing the rerun of Endhiran Audio Launch, Natchathira Galatta and Vaanavil Super Star Grand Final in HD. Tune in to the channel for screening times.
> Sally Bollywood (Disney Channel, 8.30am): Twelve-year-old Sally is the daughter of a brilliant detective and she is determined to follow in her father’s footsteps. With the help of her sometimes clairvoyant friend Dowee, Sally sets up a sub-department in her father’s detective agency that is only open during the weekend and holidays. This animation features the voice of Sarah Aubrey.
> Jeyam Kondaan (Astro Vellithirai, 10.30am): After working in London for many years, Arjun returns to Chennai following his father’s death. He hopes to start his own business with the money he had sent to his father but he is in for a shock. Starring Lekha Washinton and Vinay.
> Pasangga (Astro Vellithirai, 2.30pm): Jeeva and his friends Pakkada and Kuttimani have just joined a new class. Jeeva finds himself at loggerheads with a boy who came from another school. Starring Sriram, Kishore and Vimal.
> Yaathumaagi (Astro Vellithirai, 6pm): Sachin plays an advertisement photographer who is from a rich family. The problem is that wherever he goes, he invariably gets into trouble and has to be bailed out by his powerful family. But his world turns upside down when he falls for a simple girl, Sunaina, whose life revolves around her family. Costarring Azhagan Thamizhmani and Riyaz Khan.
> Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi (B4U, 9pm): Shahrukh Khan plays mild-mannered office worker Surinder Sahni whose love for beautiful, vivacious Tania Gupta transforms him into the loud and fun loving “Raj”. Anushka Sharma co-stars.
> Vettaikaaran (Astro Vellithirai, 9pm): Youngster Ravi aspires to be a cop just like the local police commissioner whom he idolises. Starring Joseph Vijay, Anushka Shetty, Haneefa and Mano Bala.
> Kathal Unplugged, Parts 1 & 2 (Astro Vaanavil, 11pm, also on Saturday): Shruthi Haasan, Blaaze, Vijay Prakash, Sunitha Sarathy, Haricharn and Neha Bhasin come together to perform some of the romantic hits in Tamil cinema.
> Pattalam (Astro Vellithirai, 2.30pm): Daisy is a headmistress who believes that she needs to use love and not punishment to discipline her students. Thanks to her caring ways, the disorderly students are united and even help the school win an athletics championship. Starring Nadhiya, Arun, Deepthi, Irfan, Balaji, Sathya Hari and Vignesh.
> Rettaisuzhi (Astro Vellithirai, 6pm): Ramasamy is an influential man in a village and he is devoted to the principles of the Congress. He is against Singaravelan who is a communist. Their feud runs for over four decades. Even their grandchildren are against each other and they form gangs to express their enmity. Starring K. Balachander, Bharathiraja and Anjali.
> Chandni Chowk To China (B4U, 9pm): An action-comedy about a cook, Sidhu, from Chandni Chowk, who is mistaken for ancient peasant warrior Liu Shengh by the people in a an oppressed Chinese village. Starring Akshay Kumar, Deepika Padukone and Chia Hui Liu.
> Ayan (Astro Vellithirai, 9pm): Deva’s mother wants him to be a government official. He, on the other hand, works for a smuggling ring headed by Arumuga Dass. Conflict erupts when Deva’s arch rival Kamalesh tries to eliminate Arumuga Dass from the smuggling business. Surya, Tamanna and Renuka star. –
