TWO familiar names in the local music scene, Azmyl Yunor and Ian Chow, will be releasing their respective albums in a joint gig today (8.30pm) at The Actors Studio @ Lot 10 in Kuala Lumpur.
Azmyl’s seven-track album H. I.D.U.P. – Hari Ini Di Ukay Perdana is an accompanying disc to his album Warga released last May. His album features solo acoustic versions of some of the songs (including crowd favourites Anak Dara, Makan Gaji, Harmonica and Freo) from his upcoming album, Azmyl Yunor & the Sigarettes due next year.
Chow’s album Issue # 1 takes on a plethora of social issues from child prostitution to suicides to discrimination. With 11 tracks loosely falling in the alternative pop/rock genre, the album has three bonus tracks – one which he specially composed for his recent wedding and another two that are song remixes from his previous album.
The launch is styled like a live talk show with actor Ashraf Zain and Rosheen as hosts. Singer-songwriter Ariff Akhir makes an appearance.

The band, under the baton of founder/ music director Bruce Lee and guest conductor Mitsuo Monami, performs classical pieces like The Magic Flute ( Mozart), Air Pathétique (Beethoven) and almost forgotten band favourites like Incantation And Dance (James Barnes Chance) and Broadway number 76 Trombones ( Meredith Wilson).
In addition, Tsun Jin High School Choir performs Cantate Dominum, Chinese folk song Alamuhan and award-winning movie Avatar I See You ( James Horner and Simon Franglen).

Born in the Sahara region of Algeria, Sundy is a descendant of a long line of Tuaregs. After relocating to Paris in the 1960s, he discovered American blues. He is a regular performer in the Chicago blues scene and has toured through the Barcelona Blues Festival, Montreal Jazz Festival, Arezzo Festival in Italy and much more.
Sundy is an accomplished composer-songwriter and interprets his pieces in French, English and Tuareg. Already with five albums under his belt, the richness of his music runs from a fusion of Chicago blues and Berber rhythms to African roots.
