KEF’s new Q
THE new line of “Q” speakers from KEF has landed, along with the lifestyle “T” series.
The Q range goes back some way and has won the British company numerous awards. The brief behind the Q is the usage of new materials and technologies to reproduce high-end sound. The updated line-up promises to be a quantum leap from yore; for one, we hear it has much better bass.
The heart of the system is a spanking new Uni-Q driver array, derived from KEF’s highend Concept Blade project. This one has an extended bandwidth with effortless dynamics, negligible distortion and outstanding acoustic clarity.
The new Qs come in a variety of configurations, including stand-mount and floor-standing units, along with centre and subwoofer, and target both audiophiles and home theatre enthusiasts.
The T Series is designed to match panel TVs, and so stays flush with the screen. Size, however, is no compromise for sound, and KEF says the T speakers will fill a room with “high-definition 3D sound”.
These slim-profile speakers, we’re also told, have all the “intricacy, spaciousness and dynamic range of a high-end conventional design”.
