IT’S comedy season once again in Kuala Lumpur, and The Comedy Club KL is back with another side-splitting round of standup comedy including acts from Britain. You’ve only got three days to catch them, so keep yourselves free from Nov 18 to 20 as Eddy Brimson, Dougie Dunlop, Jason Leong and host Steve Northcott descend on the local stage.

Following the success of The Comedy Club Season I and The Kings And Queen Of Comedy, the organisers LOL Events have wasted no time in flying in more comedic acts for your entertainment.

Brimson is one of the most in-demand headline acts from Britain. He was a wellknown TV presenter even before venturing into comedy; he continues to host such shows as I Predict A Riot, The Confessions Of Series and 100 Worst Singles.

Brimson is a sports writer who has written seven best-selling sports books and an exposé about travelling English football fans in Teargas And Tantrums.

Scotsman Dunlop hails from Edinburgh and is described as a “highly talented observational comic”. He has performed at major comedy venues in Britain and travelled internationally. His appeal lies in his relaxed style.

Dunlop made his fringe debut in 2000 as part of The Midnight Show In The Gilded Balloon. In 2003, he headlined the prestigious Big Value comedy package show at Edinburgh’s Café Royal. Besides doing standup comedy, Dunlop also writes and acts.

Local boy Leong is the new kid on the block who will be joining the crew in delivering the laughs.

He is all set to bring “explosive mediocrity and incisively insignificant social commentary to the fore”. His comedy is based on the strategy of “show up and see what happens”.

Canadian Northcott, who will be your host for the show, has a “charming stage presence, crackling wit, and soothing musical hooks”. Yes, Northcott is also a musician as he is the singer and guitarist for the band The Benchmarx.

So, if you’re dying for live stand-up comedy, don’t miss The Comedy Club Season II on Nov 18 and 19 at Velvet Underground, Zouk KL, from 8.30pm to 11pm. Tickets are priced at RM60.

The Comedy Club KL will also be performing at Bentley Music Auditorium. Petaling Jaya, Selangor, on Nov 20 and tickets are priced at RM60 and RM45. Tickets can be purchased at www.ticket Visit www.thecomedy for more information. –
