Pun­ish­ment: Pleaded guilty to mis­de­meanour as­sault; Cin­derella Man (which he was pro­mot­ing at the time) and the fol­low­ing year’s A Good Year tanked.

Lind­say Lo­han

Crime: In and out of jail and re­hab nu­mer­ous times for drug of­fenses.

Pun­ish­ment: Went from promis­ing star­let to washout who’s tough to in­sure and whose star ve­hi­cles ( La­bor Pains, any­body?) can’t even get a the­atri­cal re­lease. Cur­rently in court-or­dered re­hab.

Robert Downey Jr

Crime: In and out of prison and re­hab nu­mer­ous times for drug of­fences.

Pun­ish­ment: Af­ter be­ing fired from Ally McBeal and los­ing other jobs be­cause he couldn’t be in­sured, Downey got sober, stuck with it and capped his come­back with the su­per­star-mak­ing Iron Man (2008).

Joaquin Phoenix

Crime: Pre­tended to be as messed up as any­one on this list.

Pun­ish­ment: I’m Still Here, the re­sult of his two-year, hairy-faced im­mer­sion ex­per­i­ment, has grossed all of US$406,430 (RM1.3mil) and now he has to find him­self a hit role.
