THE latest creative project from Uniqlo brings together 10 designers from five Southeast Asian (SEA) countries. This sees each of them having a hand in designing a range of limited edition graphic T-shirts for Uniqlo’s UT collection.

For Malaysia, the Japanese brand collaborated with Joe Chia. The 26-year-old is a well-recognised figure within the local fashion scene. Chia even has his own eponymous label, which debuted last year.

“This collaboration with Uniqlo allows a niche label like mine to be more relatable and accessible to a wider market. It sees a fusion of my label’s identity – hyper-modern, monochromatic and minimal, with a twist – complementing UT’s signature comfort and style,” said Chia.

The project is aptly named Feel The SEA. According to Uniqlo, it looks to showcase some of the unique talents from the SEA region – from Malaysia, as well as its neighbours.

Designers from other countries include Mae Pang, Mash-Up, OwnMuse, Rêvasseur, WSDM (Singapore); Nikicio (Indonesia); Greyhound, Painkiller (Thailand); and Mobo (Philippines). – Bervin Cheong

Uniqlo’s Feel The SEA UT collection is priced at RM24.90.
