Pathway to a bright future

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - EDUCATION GUIDE -

MOST students are having a hard time deciding where to go after the SPM – choosing a degree programme and a suitable university could be one of the most important and challenging decisions of any student’s life.

Perhaps you can consider Dublin International Foundation College (DIFC).

Being the largest independent university foundation college in Ireland, DIFC offers a great nine-month university foundation pathway for Malaysian high school and SPM graduates to pursue degree programmes in medicine, engineering, business and sciences at top universities in Ireland and across the United Kingdom.

This is a complete study package or study plan, including English, preparation for college or university and a guaranteed place in an Irish or UK partner university or college. One-to-one counselling and guidance is provided to all DIFC students to ensure they select the right university or college course.

Ninety per cent of students completing DIFC courses have successfully completed their studies and transferred to courses at partner universities. DIFC graduates are now studying in various leading universities.

DIFC is one of the pioneers in providing nine-month pathway programmes in medicine, leading to a six-year medical degree programme at RCSI in both Dublin and Penang, as well as five other medical partner universities in London, Czech Republic and Hungary.

In addition, DIFC also offers a nine-month foundation pathway programmes in sciences, engineering and business, which are affordable and time-saving. Note there is no guarantee for places in medicine, as this depends on the number of places available and exam grades required at time of application.

Skills and knowledge are crucial to begin a successful career, aside from having academic qualifications. There is more to being a student than just studying. It is about developing your personality as a whole and participating in the wide range of activities beyond the lecture hall.

Therefore, DIFC also provides the latest technologies and social facilities such as computer labs, extensive library provision, restaurants, cafes, sports and social clubs, in addition to access to high-quality teaching and learning facilities.

DIFC is located in the safe and friendly city of Dublin, amidst a vibrant and young population that makes it an enjoyable social setting for fostering new friendships. As a result, DIFC is an outstanding place to study, as it also offers an affordable lifestyle.

Above all, being a student means experiencing all aspects of life and having fun. This is why DIFC is the perfect choice to start the journey to your future.

Enrolment for the January 2014 intake is now open for registration. SPM forecast results are accepted for application.

For details about DIFC and the various university foundation programmes offered, DIFC marketing director David Moroney will be on hand to meet with parents and students in Penang on Dec 11 from noon to 6pm at the Facon Exhibition in Traders Hotel, Penang. He will also be available on Dec 12 between noon and 4pm, at Interstudy’s office.
