tunku Abdul Rahman university College (TAR university College) has firmly established itself as the institution of choice for professional business education in Malaysia.

It has forged a close collaboration with the global body for professional accountants, the ACCA, since 1971 via its Faculty of Accountancy, Finance and Business (FAFB), to prepare students to obtain ACCA professional qualification.

This collaboration has nurtured students who consistently win top prizes and placings in the ACCA professional examination.

The union has also conferred the Platinum Approved Learning Partner status on TAR university College, putting it in the world’s top 5% of ACCA tuition providers.

Recently, the ACCA awarded maximum exemption to two bachelor degree programmes offered by TAR university College during the visit by ACCA president Martin Turner.

He had presented TAR university College president Datuk Dr Tan Chik Heok two letters of exemption detailing the recognition given by the ACCA to the university college’s Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) and Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) programmes.

During the ceremony, TAR university College was highlighted as the only institution in the world approved by the ACCA to run the Internally Assessed ACCA Fundamentals (Skills Module) programme for all the nine modules.

The Internally Assessed programme is incorporated into the three-year Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) programme.

The first letter outlines the exemption from Papers F1 to F9 for students who have successfully completed Year 2 of the Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) programme.

The second letter delineates that the four-year Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) programme accredited by ACCA is awarded maximum exemption from all nine papers of the ACCA Fundamentals.

The exemption granted by the ACCA is a clear indication of the high standards and quality of the programmes offered by TAR university College.

Dr Tan said, “This strong institutional bond between TAR university College and the ACCA can only be possible with the continued cooperation and support for each other by these two organisations.”

He said TAR university College values the contribution and role of the ACCA in forging strategic alliances and developing initiatives with them to provide dynamic learning and training to students.

“This partnership has been most fruitful and meaningful,” he added. “We cherish this strong and established relationship and look forward to closer cooperation between TAR uC and the ACCA for many more years to come.”

Turner also took the opportunity to congratulate TAR university College on the upgrading of status to university College by presenting a congratulatory token to Dr Tan.

This means that TAR university College is allowed to conduct undergraduate and postgraduate degree programmes.

Its inaugural bachelor degree programmes started on Oct 21 and the university college will have its Open Day from Dec 13 to 15 at its kuala Lumpur main campus, branch campuses and faculty branches.

The upgrading is timely for TAR university College to intensify its role in developing a talent pool to meet the human capital needs of the nation.
