Chef’s meal in a cosy setting
THOSE who want to spend a cosy Christmas dinner with close friends or family members should head for Chef & Brew. This intimate restaurant will be serving a tantalising spread that fuses traditional and modern tastes.
Start off with the Mayo Deep-Sea Prawns upon a bed of Caviar and Diced Mango appetiser.
The interesting blend of textures and flavours from the prawns and mango meld well and readies the palate for what comes next.
To spice things up, there is even a dollop of wasabi on the side.
The Creamy Cauliflower with Diced Potato Soup which comes after is rich in flavour and resembles the consistency of a New England chowder.
The soup is bound to conjure images of supping on hot, homemade soups during cold days and bring on remembered comfort and warmth.
Up next is the main course – Roast Turkey served with Chicken Sausages, Parsley Potatoes, Seasonal Vegetables and Cranberry Sauce.
Hearty and wholesome, this new form of cooking the turkey is a kind of deconstructed take on the traditional turkey dinner.
The turkey breast is marinated overnight, then roasted, sliced thick and served with a drizzle of Chef & Brew’s special sauce, together with the cranberry.
The result: turkey slices that are tender and juicy with the sauce that complements the cranberry.
The dessert is again Chef & Brew’s twist to the Christmas Pudding and Cranberry Muffin. These sweets bring to mind the fruity and zesty tastes so synonymous with Christmas.
One can wash that down with a special fruity mocktail, playfully called the Merry Merry Mocktail, which packs a fruity refreshing punch.
It combines Grenadine syrup with apple and orange juices, topped with lime juice. This is bound to be a new favourite. The meal is then completed with either brewed coffee or tea.
This would be the best time to reflect on the fine flavours of the meal and also take in the comfort and warmth that the restaurant provides.
The Christmas Menu is priced at RM79.90++ per set. The set with a glass of red or white wine would cost RM89.90++.
