IN­SPIRED by the sym­bolic sig­nif­i­cance of en­cour­ag­ing peo­ple to grasp the free­dom of re­al­is­ing their dreams, Sun­way Pyra­mid has in­tro­duced the theme of Faerie Dreams to their Christ­mas dec­o­ra­tions.

With Christ­mas cel­e­bra­tions run­ning from Dec 16 to 29, shop­pers will have the op­por­tu­nity to take in the sight of the 40-foot Christ­mas tree that is brightly lit amid in a win­try set­ting. This fo­cal point is lo­cated at the mall’s lower ground two, Blue Con­course.

The Christ­mas tree it­self is a con­tem­po­rary “tree” – made out of mul­ti­ple artis­tic frames and colour­ful wings that make up the con­i­cal shape of a typ­i­cal Christ­mas tree.

Step un­der this struc­ture of frames and wings and you get a sense of a gazebo, with a wish­ing foun­tain at the cen­tre, in place of a trunk. Another wish­ing foun­tain is lo­cated at lower ground two, Orange Con­course.

The vis­ual el­e­ment that tran­scends through­out the whole theme is the de­pic­tion of var­i­ous an­gel wings, which can be found in nu­mer­ous spots around the mall.

Sun­way Pyra­mid’s gen­eral man­ager, Phang Sau Ling ex­plained that the an­gel wings re­flect the hope that the di­vine is keep­ing a look­out and ful­fill­ing peo­ple’s wishes.

“Through Faerie Dreams we hope to be able to in­spire peo­ple around us. We want peo­ple to re­alise that they too can make some wishes come true.”

At the ground floor of Sun­way Pyra­mid, shop­pers will chance upon the largest dis­play of an­gel wings in Kuala Lumpur. Orig­i­nally dis­played bare, shop­pers can pur­chase coloured feath­ers for RM10 each to fill in the frames of the wings.

The pro­ceeds for the feath­ers will be chan­nelled to the Chil­dren’s Wish So­ci­ety (CWS) which works to­wards ful­fill­ing wishes of chil­dren stricken with life-lim­it­ing or ter­mi­nal ill­nesses across Malaysia.

Dur­ing the Dec 21 launch, the so­ci­ety sent seven chil­dren to Sun­way Pyra­mid to have their wishes ful­filled. Of the seven, three of them wished for their am­bi­tions to come true: a pi­lot, a singer and a po­lice­man.

Shop­pers to Sun­way Pyra­mid dur­ing this sea­son of fes­tiv­i­ties will also be greeted by new stores such as Sephora, Thomas Sabo, Jane Nor­man, Ac­ces­sorize, Ar­mani Ex­change, Vic­to­ria Se­cret, H&Mand Ter­ra­nova.Mak­ing its de­but in Malaysia is UK fash­ion re­tail out­let Blue Inc.

The Christ­mas celebration co­in­cides with the Malaysia Year End Sale. Shop­pers will have the chance to take part in a com­pe­ti­tion where they can win up to RM100,00 worth of prizes. Th­ese in­clude a four-day, three-night stay at Dream­world, Gold Coast Aus­tralia. Shop­pers can also check out in­ter­est­ing ac­tiv­i­ties dur­ing week­ends and pub­lic hol­i­days.

Un­til Dec 1, shop­pers spend­ing up to RM800 in three re­ceipts (RM600 for HSBC card­hold­ers) can redeem ex­clu­sive passes to Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs The Mu­si­cal worth RM200 which will pre­miere on Dec 7 at Sun­way La­goon’s Am­phithe­atre.

They can also redeem an ex­clu­sive, lim­ited edi­tion sta­tionery set con­sist­ing of an owl’s quill pen and an ink wax seal.

Other ac­tiv­i­ties that shop­pers can en­joy dur­ing week­ends and pub­lic hol­i­days this sea­son are the meet-and-greet ses­sions with mas­cots Leo and Leona, Santa, Snow and the Seven Dwarfs, to name a few.

All around Sun­way Re­sort City, the Christ­mas show­lights of a mil­lion LED lights de­pict el­e­ments such as an­gel wings and other sym­bols re­lated to the Yule­tide. There will be a year-end celebration pa­rade on Dec 14.
