A niche institution
BERJAYA University College of Hospitality (Berjaya UCH) was established as a niche education institution of higher learning, dedicated to specialising and championing the growth and development of the hospitality, tourism and services industries.
Programmes from foundation to postgraduate levels are offered under six schools: School of Culinary Arts, School of Hospitality, School of Tourism, School of Business, School of Liberal Arts and School of Sports, Leisure and Lifestyle.
The university college implements a unique teaching approach called the Berjaya Immersion Methodology in an integrated classroomcommunity space for students to learn and apply their knowledge and skills in real-life situations.
A significant part of this approach depends greatly on the innovative academic curriculum, delivered both inside and outside of the classrooms, which are both academic and careerfocused, and is based on the “Learning by Doing” principle.
This approach educates the students to think critically, communicate effectively, work productively and manage professionally right from the day they start with the university college.
Berjaya UCH aims to franchise home-grown programmes to education institutions overseas or invest in joint venture arrangements.
It has established strategic partnerships with recognised professional and academic institutions of higher learning from Britain, the United States, Australia, Europe and South Korea who are forerunners in the hospitality, culinary arts, tourism, retail and event management areas.
To help students adapt to the requirements of the challenging labour market, the university college pays particular attention on opportunities for quality industrial work placements.
Support from the Berjaya Group of Companies plays an integral part in industry placements with their diverse hotels, resorts and clubs providing a platform for students to gain international placement and exposure, thereby enhancing their skills and knowledge in a global environment.
The students also get priority to fill up permanent positions within the subsidiaries of the group. These placements close the gap between the students’ qualifications and the needs of the industries.
Berjaya UCH is having its Open Day on Dec 14 and 15, 10am-6pm. Step in to the city campus, located on 11th and 14th floors, of Berjaya Times Square in Kuala Lumpur.
