KBU introduces new programmes

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - HIGHER EDUCATION -

IN LINE with its mission to provide quality education, KBU International College moves a notch higher by introducing industry-relevant programmes to the students.

Since its inception in 1990, KBU has produced hundreds of First Class Honours degree graduates through the collaborations with reputable partner universities in Britain, namely Nottingham Trent University (NTU), Sheffield Hallam University (SHU) and Anglia Ruskin University (ARU).

KBU graduates have successfully gained employment in diverse fields within a short period of time and in many instances, immediately upon their graduation.

The college currently conducts nine franchised 3+0 programmes with its partners ARU, NTU and SHU.

The programmes are in design, engineering, computing/ICT/software engineering, business management, accounting and finance.

The outstanding achievements by KBU graduates in the corporate environment symbolises the college’s commitment in establishing strong ties with well-known organisations and professional bodies.

Some of the programmes have been tailored to fit the current trend in the real world.

BA (Hons) Furniture and Product Design

Recognising that the country’s furniture industry is set to grow at an exponential rate, KBU is offering BA (Hons) Furniture and Product Design in a bid to meet the needs of the design profession in the 21st century.

Being the only college which offers Furniture & Product Design course in Malaysia for the students, the programme provides the students with a professional and creative approach to all aspects of furniture and product design.

Teaching and learning is primarily studiobased with a number of supporting lectures, seminars and tutorials.

There will also be access to workshops for model-making and computer suites for the development of computer-aided design (CAD) skills.

All of this work contributes to the development of subject knowledge and understanding.

Foundation in Science

The Foundation in Science programme which is developed by KBU with input from IMU provides a platform for students to pursue a variety of programmes related to health sciences at International Medical University (IMU).

To create more pathways for students after the completion of their programme, KBU has tied up with three more well-known universities such as Melaka Manipal Medical College, Perdana University and Mahsa University; other than IMU.

Students who are aspiring to be medical professionals in the shortest time possible can grab the opportunity by enrolling in the Foundation in Science programme where the curriculum is entirely adapted from IMU.

Besides the new programmes, KBU also offers scholarships to students who excelled in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) and Sijil Tinggi Pelajaran Malaysia (STPM) examinations.

Scholarship and fee waivers are also offered to leaders and top office bearers of school uniformed bodies. Students who are active and have performed well in sports are also able to apply for the Sports Scholarship. The new addition to the scholarship list would be the KBU Principal Scholarship 2014 which is dedicated to the current SM3 students who have excelled in the Unified Examination (UEC) examination.

Students and parents are welcome to visit the campus on KBU’s Open Day Dec 21 and 22. Go early and stand a chance to enjoy special incentives.
