A strong foundation in Science
IF YOU are interested in a health care profession then consider the foundation in science (FiS) programme offered by the International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia’s first and most established private medical and health care university with over 22 years of dedicated focus in health care education.
The IMU FiS is the preferred foundation for entry into any of the university’s local degree programmes. FiS students offered a place in this programme will also be given a conditional offer into one of IMU’s local undergraduate programmes. The programmes they are offered will depend on their SPM/O-Level grades. Successful completion of FiS would enable progression to an undergraduate programme in IMU, subject to achieving the entry requirements and meeting all prerequisites.
A one-year programme conducted in three semesters, the Foundation in Science has three intakes: January, May and September. It will be offered at IMU’s main campus in Bukit Jalil, Kuala Lumpur. This Foundation in Science is awarded by IMU, a university specialising in medicine and health sciences programmes. In line with its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, the university has incorporated the concept of quality education into its Foundation in Science.
This quality is systematically assured by means of internal evaluations and external, independent quality control.
One of the unique features of the Foundation in Science in IMU is the early integration into the university community and exposure to IMU’s learning methodologies in a stimulating and conducive learning environment. Outside of the classroom, the foundation programme students at IMU will be integrated into the university’s everyday life.
You will be in the same campus as the undergraduate and postgraduate students and contribute equally to the university community. Learning is thus fully interconnected – academically, socially and culturally.
The interaction with staff and students of other programmes would enable these students to fully explore the various areas in health care professions.
Another unique feature of the IMU Foundation in Science is its Cross Boundary Studies where students have the opportunity to work in collaborative groups to explore issues in an inter-disciplinary approach, strategise and implement changes that make a positive impact. Students will be able to communicate how they apply their knowledge to solve this issue.
The university is offering scholarships for Malaysian and international school leavers who intend to study their Foundation in Science in IMU. These students must have good results in their SPM / O-Levels and have proven leadership qualities.
Eligible students will be invited to apply for these scholarships through their Foundation in Science letter of offer. The value of the scholarships ranges from RM2,000 to RM6,000. The Scholarship Committee will decide on the award of these scholarships.
