As promised on Tuesday, here are more discounted titles that would make great gifts.

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - READS -

SURELY one of the wonders of this season is watching a child’s face light up when you hand over a present! And if that present is a tot’s first introduction to the world of books, that light might never go out....

In this second and final part of our special offer of discounted books from MPH, we have the little ones firmly in mind with a collection of titles that caters to beginners, teens and inbetweeners, as well as fun packs to get creative juices flowing.

And after making a little one happy, why not reward yourself with a book that has been called one of John Grisham’s best efforts to date: the explosive Sycamore Row takes readers back to the world of his first bestselling book, A Time To Kill.

All these books are part of the MPH Tokens Of Love catalogue that offers more than 500 titles of various genres and categories to choose from as well as special offers; the catalogue is available at all MPH stores.

Star2 is helping to add to the seasonal cheer with an exclusive 25% discount on the book titles featured here; receive the discount by presenting this page upon payment at any MPH bookstore in Malaysia (except MPH Bakti Siti Hasmah and MPH@KLIA).

Sycamore Row by John Grisham (retail price: RM89.90) – Grisham takes you back to where his fame began, a certain courthouse in Clanton that featured in his huge 1989 hit, A Time To Kill.

Lawyer Jake Brigance once again finds himself embroiled in a fiercely controversial trial that exposes racial tensions in Ford County when the wealthy Seth Hubbard commits suicide and leaves his entire estate to his black housekeeper, Lettie, rather than his children. When Jake agrees to represent Lettie, he’s dragged into a conflict as riveting and dramatic as the murder trial that made him one of Ford County’s most well-known – or rather, infamous – citizens just three years earlier. Star2’ s review of Sycamore Row on Nov 24 called it “beyond the shadow of a doubt, one of (Grisham’s) finest works”. of science and learn about Earth and our Solar System. Sections include Astronomy, Biology, Chemistry, Geology / Geography, Physics and Weather.

Splintered by A.G. Howard (RP: RM35.90) – Alyssa Gardner hears the whispers of bugs and flowers – it is the same “gift” that landed her mother in a mental hospital years before. Surely it has nothing to do with being a direct descendent of Alice Liddell, the real life inspiration for Lewis Carroll’s Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland? But then her mother takes a turn for the worse, the whispers grow too strong to bear, and Alyssa realises she can’t bury her head in the sand any more and has to learn the family secret. A series of clues leads her through a cracked mirror into the real Wonderland, a place far darker than Carroll ever let on.

There she must decide whom to trust: Jeb, her gorgeous best friend and secret crush, or the sexy-but-suspicious Morpheus, her guide through Wonderland who may have dark motives all of his own.
