Ca­reer Day at new cam­pus

uNITAR In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity with its new 15-storey main cam­pus in Ke­lana Jaya or­gan­ised its first Ca­reer Day by col­lab­o­rat­ing with 20 renowned com­pa­nies.

The Ca­reer Day aimed to pro­vide the lat­est in­for­ma­tion on ca­reer op­por­tu­ni­ties from UNITAR’s in­dus­try part­ners and other se­lected com­pa­nies as a plat­form to of­fer job­seek­ers the ad­van­tage of com­ing face to face with their choice of em­ploy­ers.

The event was at­tended by more than 500 stu­dents and the pub­lic.

“Since em­ploy­a­bil­ity is one of the three core val­ues of UNITAR, this Ca­reer Day is part of the strate­gic plans for UNITAR in 2013,” said the univer­sity’s Di­rec­tor of Strate­gic Al­liance and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Of­fice Sheikh Fahmy Sheikh Mo­hamed.

Among the com­pa­nies that par­tic­i­pated were Hong Leong Is­lamic Bank, KidZa­nia, Le­goland Malaysia, CIMB, Maxis, Pero­dua, Petrosains, FStep, Ber­nama, Malaysia Air­lines (MAS), San Fran­cisco Cof­fee Sdn Bhd, Ca­reerx­cell, Chil­dren Is­lamic Cir­cle, Ge­nius Aulad, Po­lis Di­raja Malaysia, PT Foun­da­tion, Malaysian Relief Agency, PKNS, The Royale Bin­tang and Teach for Malaysia.

MAS and Petrosains also con­duct- ed walk-in in­ter­view ses­sions to in­ter­ested stu­dents and the pub­lic to of­fer them on-the-spot em­ploy­ment.

The Ca­reer Day gave an op­por­tu­nity for the com­pa­nies to re­cruit po­ten­tial em­ploy­ees and to show­case their com­pa­nies. Ca­reer talks were also given by Le­goland Malaysia, Fi­nan­cial Sec­tor Tal­ent En­rich­ment Pro­gramme (FStep) and Petrosains.

“The Ca­reer Day is not just for our stu­dents but also for the pub­lic to take the op­por­tu­nity to in­ter­act with com­pa­nies that are their pre­ferred choice of em­ploy­ers,” said Head of Ca­reer Place­ment and Alumni Re­la­tions Depart­ment Elmeira Sham­sud­din.

The univer­sity’s new cam­pus in Ke­lana Jaya is lo­cated be­side the Ke­lana Jaya po­lice sta­tion.

Ameni­ties close by in­clude ma­jor es­tab­lish­ments such as Gi­ant Hy­per­mar­ket, Par­a­digm Mall, Em­pire Shop­ping Gallery, Sun­way Pyra­mid and Subang Pa­rade.

Cur­rently, UNITAR has 11 re­gional cen­tres. Stu­dents can choose to study its cour­ses through its re­gional cen­tres in Kota Kinabalu, Sabah; Kuch­ing, Sarawak; Alor Se­tar, Kedah; Kota Baru, Ke­lan­tan; Jo­hor Baru, Jo­hor; Ipoh, Perak; Port Dick­son, Negri Sembilan; Pe­nang; Malacca; Jengka, Pa­hang; and Keningau, Sabah.
