End to termite invasion

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - HOMES -

THE way in which homes are built increases the likelihood of a termite invasion. However, there are a number of steps that can be taken during renovation and construction to prevent this occurrence.

The common soil treatment or slab injection creates a chemical barrier with limited duration.

After the chemical has biodegraded, subterranean termites will enjoy an “open house” in your home.

There is also the risk of termite alates or flying termites invading your home by bypassing the treated soil.

This is why condominium units can also be infested with termites.

Tim-bor is a non-chemical and natural wood preservative that prevents fungal decay and is deadly to termites, carpenter ants and roaches, but safe for people, pets and the environment.

It interferes with the termites’ metabolic pathways. When ingested, it kills them. Once applied, Tim-bor becomes part of the wood through a process called diffusion.

It lasts as long as the wood is kept away from flowing water.

Pestmaster has devised a termite control system that leverages on Tim-bor to give your home five levels of protection:

> First level: Soil treatment or slab injection

> Second level: Termite prevention at bare brick walls, electrical junction box, electrical ducts and wall panel joinery

> Third level: Timber floor, products and fittings

> Fourth level: Built-in cabinets and furniture

> Fifth level: Roof truss and timber decks
