The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - EDUCATION NORTH -

FOR more than 35 years, SEGi University Group (SEGi) has equipped graduates from diverse backgrounds with exceptional education for career achievement and personal success.

The Group first opened its doors as Systematic College in 1977 in the heart of Kuala Lumpur’s commercial district, offering professional qualifications. By thinking big while charting the terrain forward with small steps and larger strides, a solid foundation was laid for SEGi to embark on a journey of continuous and sustainable growth.

By standing steadfast to its mission of empowering learners with educational and training excellence relevant to industry needs in contributing positively to global communities, SEGi is constantly on a quest to maximise its students’ natural talents and potential with quality education.

This approach has churned out graduates who have the skills to become key industry leaders and contribute to nation building. This is the main reason why SEGi endeavours to reach out to wider segments of society with a broad range of programmes.

Programmes offered include Medicine, Pharmacy, Business & Accountancy, Engineering, Built Environment, Computing & Technology, Creative Arts & Design, Communication Studies, Allied Health Sciences and Law.

Also available are pre-university, postgraduate and professional studies, American Degree Program, English Language, Education & Social Sciences and Hospitality & Tourism.

Today, the Group is one of the largest private higher education providers in Malaysia serving some 30,000 students through five major campuses located in Kota Damansara, Kuala Lumpur, Subang Jaya, Penang and Sarawak.

With programmes tailored to meet both industry and student needs, SEGi graduates have easily found employment and many have gone on to become leaders of their respective industries.

Its pursuit of stellar education has not gone unnoticed. Wellknown universities in the United Kingdom, United States and Australia have established strong ties with SEGi.

Among the esteemed institutions are Teesside University (UK), University of Abertay Dundee (UK), University of Sunderland (UK), University of Southern Queensland (Australia) and Upper Iowa University (USA).

These connections offer students a wide variety of internationally recognised qualifications that can be fully completed locally. As a provider of top-notch education with a global emphasis, the partnerships have enabled SEGi to prepare its students to have an international outlook.

Such partnerships have also attracted many eager learners from around the world to pursue further studies at SEGi.

As a result, students get a head start at collaborating with fellow peers of various nationalities and backgrounds that effectively prepares them for work at multinational corporations.

This colourful international student population has also helped put Malaysia on the world map as one of the most sought-after destinations for affordable education.

One of the main events at SEGi University is its annual International Cultural Night that provides a fun and interactive experience for all to learn about each other’s countries and cultures, and to celebrate diversity.

To keep up in this era of globalisation, SEGi is steadfast in its quest to make education accessible to all and will continue to raise the bar for education excellence in Malaysia.

SEGi University also offers online studies through its Professional and Continuing Education (PACE) learning centre for working individuals to progress in their careers or seeking a career change.

Get a postgraduate degree that comes with the assurance of independence and flexibility at your own pace.

With PACE, you can decide on the number of subjects to pursue in one semester and there is no time limit to complete your studies.

And there is no fixed intake, you can enroll whenever you are ready and conveniently log in to your classes any time of the day, at any location with Internet access. Lessons are accessible via the world’s largest Learning Management System Blackboard.

For a truly on-the-go learning experience, you can also download the BlackboardLearn application onto your mobile phone or tablet to connect with lecturers, classmates and lessons.

The same teaching staff for full-time programmes will also be teaching in PACE.

Students have the option of transferring their credits between full time, part time and PACE programmes.

SEGi is also committed to become a leader in Research, Development and Innovation by allocating a substantial amount of seed fund for research annually in encouraging young researchers to embark on their research activities that are relevant to the industry.

To further strengthen its commitment in the Research and Development initiative, SEGi has established a Research & Innovation Management Centre as the main liaison centre.

It is also the university’s goal to establish numerous academic and industry collaborations in research and development that will enhance university-industry linkages through a smart partnership concept.
