Bye-bye to mozzies

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - HOME & LIVING -

SCIENTISTS have long discovered that mosquitoes are attracted to the mixture of carbon dioxide, odour and warmth emitted by humans in our breath and sweat, through which they pick up our location. Female mosquitoes, in particular, are especially atttracted as these indicate the source of blood they need to develop their fertile eggs.

Aside from leaving an uncomfortable, itchy welt, certain mosquitoes can spread diseases.

The Aedes mosquitoes have been a menace to Malaysians. In 2011, there were 45,000 dengue cases reported. Much suffering could have been prevented and many lives saved if we have taken a more proactive approach to combat these mosquitoes.

Many different methods have been deployed in dealing with mosquitoes. The most effective solution, however, is still to prevent them from entering your house and bust them if they manage to slip through.

Khind-Mistral (M) Sdn Bhd, a reputable marketing company of quality electrical household appliances in Malaysia, has been on the forefront in battling Aedes mosquitoes as part of its social responsibility to the community.

Many resources have been invested in the research and development of a mosquito-centric electrical device to combat these pests.

Recently, Khind has added another new creation called the Eco Aedes Buster, which virtually brings our battle with Aedes to another level. The IK609 model uses black ultra violet lamps to generate carbon dioxide and warmth, similar to how a human body attracts these creatures.

Instead of operating it for 24 hours or from dusk to dawn like other contemporary catchers, which can unnecessarily shorten the lifespan of this device, this new invention requires only four hours to do the job.

This is certainly a valuable breakthrough in our battle with mosquitoes and has virtually rectified the weaknesses associated with conventional mosquito catchers.

Before using it in a room or hall, place it three feet above the ground and switch it on with other lights switched off for maximum effect. After four hours, the area should be free from mosquitoes. Do not place it under your bed or on the floor as it may prevent the mosquitoes from picking up the stimulus generated. Even the best catcher in the world will only work if it is correctly used.

This new Eco Aedes Buster comes with smart Window Shutter to prevent mosquitoes from escaping. For further peace of mind, this new Aedes Buster is safe to use around children. It has no smell, does not use chemicals and is non-toxic. It also comes with a two-year product warranty excluding the UV lamps. You can easily purchase its core components online.

In line with the rollout of this new Aedes Buster, you may stand a chance to win a Win Wish Gift Card at a value of RM200 or RM1,000 to shop at www.khindonline.com with any purchase of Aedes Buster IK609 or IK610. The contest closes on Jan 31. To participate, log on to Khind Malaysia Facebook.

Khind-Mistral (M) Sdn Bhd is the marketing arm of the public-listed Khind Holdings Bhd, which has exported its products to over 50 countries. It celebrated its 50th anniversary in 2011 and is a world brand from Malaysia in its own right.
