Bringing out the best in you
THE Australian Matriculation (AUSMAT) at Sunway College is an internationally recognised pre-university programme. It prepares students for the Western Australian Certificate of Education (WACE) and is widely accepted by universities in Australia, New Zealand, the United Kingdom, the United States, Canada, Russia, Germany and Singapore, as well as also private universities and university colleges in Malaysia.
The AUSMAT programme at Sunway College offers a flexible combination of diverse subjects, including Biological Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, Psychology, Mathematics, Economics, Accounting and Finance and Business Management.
It does not restrict students to any specialisation or subject combination. Depending on their personal interests, students can choose and combine a variety of subjects, allowing them to develop their best potential.
Sunway students have gained admission into universities in Australia, including the prestigious Group-of-Eight (Go8), universities in New Zealand and many other countries around the world.
The broad learning pedagogies prepare them well for university-level studies and research, allowing them to branch out to many disciplines and specialisations.
The quality implementation of the programme is overseen by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia, on behalf of the Government of Western Australia.
High-quality assurance practices and external examinations are conducted, supervised and assessed by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority (SCSA). The programme and academic staff development are moderated yearly to ensure quality teaching.
Today, Sunway College is the largest and longest-running provider of the AUSMAT (Australian Year 12) in Malaysia. Sunway lecturers rate top in “excellent teaching and assessment” by the School Curriculum and Standards Authority of Western Australia’s Annual Examiners’ Reports.
Sunway students have been ranked among the best in Western Australia and in the Western Australia programme worldwide.
Sunway’s AUSMAT, noted for its strong pastoral component, helps develop a wholesome individual through personalised learning and growth, preparing students for university life and studies.
Students are challenged to take multiple approaches to problem-solving and criticalthinking, nurturing their overall cognitive development.
Parents, guardians and sponsors are kept informed on students’ academic performance and progress through regular meetings with lecturers.
Every year, Sunway AUSMAT carries out a Career Exploration Programme to help students explore the various study options in Australia and across the world.
Sunway College had the honour of the presence of the Lord Mayor of Perth, Lisa Scaffidi, as one of the distinguished speakers at the annual seminar this year.
Scaffidi led a delegation from several leading universities in Western Australia, Study Perth and various education-related departments.
The delegates spoke on the career paths students could consider and the study options available to them.
The Pre-University Studies at Sunway College is focused on delivering university preparatory programmes to equip students with critical thinking and independent learning skills, preparing them for admissions into premier universities all over the world.
Dedicated and approachable academic teams nurture and mentor students to develop and expand these skills and capabilities, resulting in academic performance that often exceeds expectations.
A strong tradition of academic excellence prevails at Sunway. The students’ success stories in the fields of studies such as medicine, science, engineering, accounting, business and arts are testimonies of the high degree of pastoral care and academic guidance offered.
Strong emphasis is placed on extra-curricular activities, where students are encouraged to approach clubs, societies, sports and community service with as much enthusiasm as their studies. Through these, they learn team spirit and leadership qualities, as well as build confidence, communication skills and friendship that will benefit them in their future undertakings.
Other pre-university programmes offered at Sunway College are the Cambridge GCE A-Level Programme, Canadian International Matriculation Programme, Monash University Foundation Year and Sunway Foundation in Arts Programme.
