THE end of SPM ex­am­i­na­tions marks a cru­cial pe­riod for stu­dents as they must make the right de­ci­sion on what to do next in fur­ther­ing their ed­u­ca­tion.

With many uni­ver­si­ties and col­leges out there, choos­ing the one that max­imises your po­ten­tial and sees you in con­stant con­tact with the best peo­ple is cru­cial.

Quest In­ter­na­tional Univer­sity Perak (QIUP) is a young and dy­namic univer­sity with eq­uity par­tic­i­pa­tion from the Perak state gov­ern­ment.

Con­cep­tu­alised to nur­ture Gen Ys into be­com­ing in­quis­i­tive and so­cially aware in­di­vid­u­als, this univer­sity de­ploys the best in­tel­lec­tual minds to pro­vide ed­u­ca­tion to all lev­els of so­ci­ety.

QIUP’s Foun­da­tion pro­grammes are a great way for stu­dents to de­velop prac­ti­cal and aca­demic skills af­ter SPM to help them em­bark on their jour­ney to­wards higher ed­u­ca­tion.

The Foun­da­tion in Busi­ness and Foun­da­tion in Sci­ence pro­grammes have a prac­ti­cal fo­cus with a range of hands-on ex­pe­ri­ences where stu­dents will gain the con­fi­dence, skills and knowl­edge to help them par­tic­i­pate ef­fec­tively in ter­tiary stud­ies.

They will also ex­plore a se­lec­tion of QIUP pro­grammes to help them plan their fu­ture in diploma or de­gree pro­grammes.

QIUP’s lec­tur­ers are pas­sion- ate, in­dus­try-savvy, highly ac­claimed and in­tel­li­gent. Stu­dents will ben­e­fit tremen­dously from the lec­tur­ers’ knowl­edge, ex­pe­ri­ences and net­work.

Fac­ulty of Medicine dean Prof Dr Alam Sher Ma­lik is a fre­quent speaker, or­gan­iser and fa­cil­i­ta­tor for con­fer­ences and sem­i­nars in lo­cal and over­seas uni­ver­si­ties.

Ac­claimed Biotech­nol­o­gist Pro­fes­sor Dr He­len Nair, who is Re­search Pro­fes­sor and Fac­ulty of In­te­gra­tive Sciences and Tech­nol­ogy dean, is known for her re­search and pi­o­neer­ing ef­forts in plant biotech­nol­ogy and con­sults for var­i­ous uni­ver­si­ties and or­gan­i­sa­tions.

Fac­ulty of Busi­ness, Man­age­ment and So­cial Sciences pro­fes­sor and dean Pro­fes­sor Dr Ilias Ma­mat is a dis­tin­guished aca­demi­cian in the ar­eas of Man­age­ment Sci­ence, De­ci­sion Sci­ence, Op­er­a­tions Re­search, Ap­plied Sta­tis­tics, Fi­nan­cial Plan­ning, In­vest­ment/Port­fo­lio Man­age­ment and Quan­ti­ta­tive Ap­pli­ca­tions in Fi­nance.

Dr Ilias is for­mer chief ex­ec­u­tive of­fi­cer of PNB In­vest­ment In­sti­tute Sdn Bhd and vice-pres­i­dent of PNB.

Stu­dents at QIUP will en­joy classes that speak not only of syl­labus but also on life lessons that can only be given con­vinc­ingly by those who have been through it.

In a way, the lec­tur­ers here are al­most like men­tors, breath­ing op­ti­mism and guid­ing their ap­pren­tices along the way.

QIUP’s quest is to de­velop all­rounded grad­u­ates who not only ex­cel in their stud­ies but also ac­tively par­tic­i­pate in var­i­ous con- fer­ences and ed­u­ca­tional com­pe­ti­tions dur­ing their stud­ies.

There are four fac­ul­ties at QIUP, Cen­tre for Foun­da­tion Stud­ies, Fac­ulty of Medicine, Fac­ulty of In­te­gra­tive Sciences and Tech­nol­ogy and Fac­ulty of Busi­ness Man­age­ment and So­cial Sciences, that of­fer pro­grammes at foun­da­tion, diploma and de­gree lev­els.

At the foun­da­tion level, pro­grammes on of­fer are in Busi­ness and Sci­ence while at diploma level, Ho­tel Man­age­ment, Busi­ness Man­age­ment and Ac­coun­tancy pro­grammes are avail­able.

A wide range of pro­grammes are of­fered at the de­gree level, in­clud­ing the Bach­e­lor of Sci­ence (Hons) in Biotech­nol­ogy, Bach­e­lor of Engineering (Hons) Elec­tron­ics and Com­mu­ni­ca­tions Engineering, Bach­e­lor of Com­puter Sci­ence, Bach­e­lor of Arts (Hons) TESL, Bach­e­lor of Ac­coun­tancy (Hons), Bach­e­lor of Fi­nance (Hons), Bach­e­lor of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion (Hons) in Hos­pi­tal­ity and Tourism Man­age­ment, Bach­e­lor of Busi­ness Ad­min­is­tra­tion (Hons) and the Bach­e­lor of Medicine and Bach­e­lor of Surgery.

QIUP’s in­terim cam­pus is strate­gi­cally lo­cated in Ipoh, away from the dis­trac­tions of bustling city life, aptly pro­vid­ing a con­ducive learn­ing en­vi­ron­ment and lower cost of liv­ing.
