One such activity they can consider is to enhance their English language proficiency at a well-trusted language centre.
ELS Language Centres (ELS), an American institution that specialises in English language preparation for university studies, first embarked on its mission to help Malaysians improve their command of the language in 1990.
Since then, ELS has taught more than 150,000 local and international students. ELS intensive English programmes allow students to benefit by being involved in an Englishspeaking environment and offer an enjoyable and positive learning experience with a strong focus on productive skills to boost confidence and motivation.
Enjoy free registration
In conjunction with the school holidays, students can now enjoy a waiver of the registration fee for the January and February 2014 intakes.
Programmes offered at ELS are proven to assist students develop their confidence to speak the language and perform better at school and work.
With many universities and colleges around the world now requiring proof of English proficiency for all non-native English speakers upon registration, ELS offers preparation programmes for TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) and IELTS (International English Language Testing System).
ELS is also an IELTS and TOEFL test venue. In fact, it is one of the largest TOEFL test providers in Malaysia. Students can join the test preparation programmes as well as register for the tests at ELS.
Certified intensive programme
For university-bound students, the Certified Intensive English Programme (CIEP) is an exclusive full-time course accepted by many colleges and universities worldwide in place of TOEFL and IELTS as entry requirement and allows students with varying entry levels of English proficiency to master the language in a short period of time.
Featuring nine levels from beginner to advanced, the CIEP course is suitable for students with varying levels of English proficiency.
For 30 hours a week, students learn to master reading and writing skills under the guidance of a team of dedicated and welltrained instructors. Students are expected to gain hands-on experience in speaking fluently through discussions of relevant issues based on current and interesting themes.
For students who are interested in a parttime course and for those with time constraints, ELS also offers the Semi Intensive English Programme.
Students attend 15 lessons of Intensive English classes a week to improve their language skills.
Through Structure and Speaking, Reading and Writing, and Vocabulary Enhancement, this programme enables students to reach their goals in the shortest time possible.
