Lewis to play Henry VIII
HOMELAND star Damian Lewis will play Henry VIII in the miniseries Wolf Hall, a six-part miniseries based on Hilary Mantel’s historical novel trilogy, Variety reports.
Wolf Hall will focus on Thomas Cromwell, Henry VIII’s powerful counsellor, who played an essential role in bringing about the English Reformation of the 16th century.
British actor Mark Rylance ( The Other Boleyn Girl) will portray Cromwell, described in Mantel’s novels as manipulative and opportunistic.

Lewis is also slated to appear in Werner Herzog’s Queen Of The Desert alongside Nicole Kidman, James Franco and Robert Pattinson.
The title Wolf Hall comes from the first book in Mantel’s trilogy, which explores Thomas Cromwell’s formative years and political ascension.
The miniseries will also draw on material from the second book, Bring Up The Bodies, published in 2012, and from the forthcoming third book, The Mirror And The Light.
The miniseries is slated to air on BBC in Britain and on PBS in the United States. — AFP Relaxnews
