Making the right connection
AN enriching and rewarding learning experience awaits students of INTI’s University of Wollongong (UOW) degree programmes, being affiliated with a university that enjoys five-star status in Australia.
It is placed in the top 2% of world universities (QS World University Rankings 2013/2014/ Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2012/2013 Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) 2013), and listed among the best modern universities in the world.
UOW is rated as a five-star performer in Hobson’s Good Universities Guide.
This year marks the 14th year in a row UOW has scored five stars in the “graduate outcomes” category, which included “Getting a Job, Positive Graduate Outcomes and Graduate Starting Salary”.
Working in partnership, UOW and INTI have extended the best in tertiary education to students in Malaysia through degree programmes in IT (major in eBusiness or Network Design & Management); Computer Science (major in Software Engineering, Mobile Computing, Multimedia and Game Development or Digital Systems Security); Commerce (major in Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics, Marketing, International Business or Public Relations); and Communication and Media Studies (major in Marketing Communication and Advertising).
Students of the INTI UOW pro- grammes are enrolled as UOW students.
This gives them access to online resources available at UOW.
The graduation certificate is conferred by UOW and bears the name University of Wollongong.
As the courses delivered at INTI are identical in content to UOW in Australia, students can also choose to transfer at the end of any semester to continue their studies at UOW in Wollongong.
Transfer options available are the 2+1, 1.5+1.5 and 1+2 arrangements.
Students may also choose to spend a semester at UOW in Australia with the study abroad option available.
Among the unique platforms for innovative learning and career development in the UOW programme is the annual UOW Technopreneur Week, held in collaboration with INTI’s industry partners.
Each year, to promote the entrepreneurial spirit and mindset, students take on the challenge of putting together a creative event that will enhance their soft skills and further prepare them for the real working environment.
As Technopreneur Week is organised by students for students, participants are empowered via an experience that boosts their level of maturity and prepares them for a successful career in any field that they may embark on.
Many other initiatives are in place to help INTI students build up competencies through innovative learning.
Students have undertaken 180 innovative projects with 98 employers from various industries since 2011.
Real employer projects ranging from “Ways of doing business and how to set up a company in Myanmar” to “Development of a research book that identifies the changes shaping Malaysia’s marketing landscape and consumer behaviour trends” have been introduced in the classroom to help students develop problem solving, collaboration, communication and critical thinking skills.
