BUSINESS is one of the most sought-after programmes at tertiary level because of the foundation it provides to aspiring business leaders.

Business students are given the opportunity to explore various fields such as accounting, business administration and management, economics, finance, human resources and marketing.

As a result, business students develop analytical, management, communication and quantitative skills, have a better understanding of economic principles and most importantly, discover their talents and interests.

Upon graduation, they have a better idea on which area they would prefer to specialise in when they join a corporation.

In recognising the importance of a strong foundation for a seamless transition to the business world, SEGi University Group offers a wide range of programmes under its School of Business and Accounting.

The School of Business and Accounting is the largest and oldest in SEGi College Kuala Lumpur and prides itself on providing the highest quality business education.

By providing industry relevant and innovative programmes that adapt to the everchanging business world, the school develops future business professionals by offering realworld business studies.

At SEGi College KL, students are exposed to a variety of learning methods, including lectures, seminars, workshops, presentations and practical experience.

SEGi College KL also draws a large number of top-notch academics and captains of industries into its community, who serve as academic advisers, lecturers, examiners and moderators.

It is no wonder that SEGi College KL was chosen as the Centre of Excellence (CoE) for Business and Accounting by SEGi University Group last year.

The CoE is an initiative by SEGi University Group to propel SEGi to the next level by building upon strong foundations and trans- forming from a generalist institution into eight specialist CoEs. By focusing on areas of strength, the CoEs will be able to deliver a superior education experience.

The college also partners with some of the most reputable corporations for internship and employment opportunities.

Business and Accounting students have the opportunity to join the SEGi Entrepreneurship Council (SEC) that aims to nurture students so that they can grow beyond business theories taught in books and during lectures, and letting them thrive in an environment where they have to make business decisions, be an effective team player and cope under pressure.

For effective preparation for the business world, members of SEC participate in numerous nationwide competitions and quizzes organised by multi-national companies and major corporations and as a result, have produced national champions. So far, the members have organised or participated in about 40 events and competitions at state, national and regional levels.

Recently, students from the Faculty of Business and Accounting were treated to a riveting discourse with special guest speakers who are also Industry Advisers for the School, Asian Finance Bank Bhd chief executive officer Datuk Mohamed Azahari Mohamed Kamil and Navis Capital Partners managing partner and co-founder Nicholas Bloy.

Both the speakers shared their personal experiences in the business industry and reminded students that the road to success is not just good academic results, but also hard work, divine intervention and having a high level of integrity.
