TUNKU Abdul Rahman University College’s (TAR UC) Advanced Diploma in Graphic Design students zoomed off with RM15,000 as champions of the Chevrolet Sonic Airbrush Competition, which was jointly organised by Chevrolet Malaysia, Naza Quest Sdn Bhd and FM Media advertising agency.

Their creative rainbow of colours with the “Fun Ride Now” theme, which they visualised via airbrushing a brand-new Chevrolet Sonic car, impressed the panel of judges while also garnering 22,900 votes on the competition’s Facebook page.

TAR UC was among 10 universi- ties and colleges that participated in the car-body art competition and emerged top of the final three listings by triumphing against Lim Kok Wing University of Creative Technology and Universiti Teknologi MARA (UiTM).

The three finalists’ Chevrolet Sonic cars were taken on a roadshow nationwide, including Sabah and Sarawak. The cars were brought back to Chevrolet Malaysia’s Ampang, Kuala Lumpur showroom where the champion team was announced and prizes presented by Chevrolet chief operating officer Norzahid Mohd Zahudi.

“The students’ parents had dropped by to motivate their chil- dren, who worked vigorously around the clock in a short one week, demonstrating teamwork, lots of patience, while enjoying their moments together,” said TAR UC associate dean of Creative Arts Edwin Chien Min Kee.
