“The Kia Cadenza wins for many reasons, including Kia’s remarkable effort to emerge in the entry-luxury category,” said RTM editorin-chief Courtney Caldwell.
“Overall, the car is beautiful and affordable, making upscale style and performance attainable to mid-America. We applaud Kia’s rapid rise from underdog to unbelievable!”
The ICOTY award added to the growing list of accolades the Cadenza has earned since its launch in early 2013.
It marked back-to-back victories for Kia as the 2013 Optima mid-size sedan was honoured by RTM with the ICOTY award last year.
Meanwhile, the 2014 Cerato (known as Forte or K3 in some markets) was named the Best New Compact Sedan of 2014 by Cars. com.
Cars.com editors picked six cars to compete for the annual award, and the Cerato topped its segment with its style, performance and value.
“People buy compact cars because they are affordable and efficient, but that doesn’t mean they have to be boring,” said Cars.com editorin-chief Patrick Olsen.
