THE month of March will bring mu­sic to many ears, lit­er­ally. From in­die rock and K-pop to elec­tronic dance mu­sic and hip hop, lo­cal mu­sic fans are spoiled for choice next month. Take your pick from a three-day mu­sic fes­ti­val in Kuala Lumpur to a Yuna show all the way in Sun­gai Pe­tani, Kedah. And if you’re wor­ried about be­ing broke by the end of the month, don’t worry. Cana­dian pop punk princess Avril Lav­i­gne re­turns to Kuala Lumpur to pro­mote the re­lease of lat­est self-ti­tled stu­dio al­bum. This con­cert by clas­si­cal cross­over group Il Divo is in­spired by its suc­cess­ful week of per­for­mances at the Mar­quis Theatre in New York back in 2013. Fu­ture Mu­sic Fes­ti­val Asia 2014 kicks off on March 13 with per­for­mances by Dead­mau5, Ad­ven­ture Club, R3hab and Will Sparks. March 14 will see Ar­min Van Bu­uren takeover the fes­ti­val with his A State Of Trance 650: New Hori­zons show. He’ll be joined by Markus Schulz and Paul Van Dyk. Then, the fes­ti­val ends with a bang on March 15 with per­for­mances by Phar­rell Wil­liams, Mack­le­more & Ryan Lewis, Ghost­face Kil­lah and Raek­won of the Wu-Tang Clan, Yuna, Tinie Tem­pah and more.

Fans who have been wait­ing for Steve Vai to make an­other ap­pear­ance in KL since the ill-fated Ren­taka­sia mu­sic fes­ti­val in 2000 are in for a treat. This time, the gui­tar vir­tu­oso re­turns with his own con­cert.
