Star-Crossed

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - TV -

THE show actually isn’t as bad as I thought it would be. OK, so the premise isn’t exactly original - alien boy falls in love with human girl and they navigate through this weird world where man and alien are learning to co-exist – but there’s a balanced mix of sci-fi action and romance.

The sci-fi bit is pretty extensive and honestly, quite intriguing. Viewers get to know what Atrians (the alien race) are like (apparently they’re allegic to caffeine) and what they can do (some have healing powers).

The chemistry between the leading couple Roman (Matt Lanter) and Emery (Aimee Teegarden) is palpable, enough to warrant fans to coin the term “Romery” besides creating tons of fan-made videos on YouTube set to sickly-sweet love ballads.

Above all, it’s interesting to see what the world would be like if aliens and humans do exist together.

Star-Crossed didn’t get renewed for a second season, unfortunately living up to its name. – Kenneth Chaw

Star-Crossed airs every Tuesday at 9.55pm on RTL CBS Entertainment HD (HyppTV Ch 616).
