Making the list
K-POP girl group 2NE1’s second full-length album Crush was picked by Fuse TV, in the United States, as one of the 25 best albums of the year.
Fuse TV rounded up the strongest records of 2014 so far, and 2NE1 was the only Asian group to make this year’s chart.
The American media outlet chose the group’s three songs – Come Back Home, Baby I Miss You and Gotta Be You – as outstanding tracks worth listening to.
The broadcaster described a slew of 2NE1’s songs on the album as “forward-thinking” and “wholly accessible”, pointing to the quartet’s knack for genre melding, covering Indian tabla drums, switch- board-button buzzing, reggae and trap-hybrid.
The quartet’s latest album, released in February, broke the record for the biggest first-week sales for a K-pop album and the highest-charting K-pop release in America, according to Billboard.
Pop music legend Michael Jackson and diva Mariah Carey, as well as various music sensations like Pharrell Williams, Coldplay and the Black Keys, also made the list. SM ENTErTAINMENT, South Korea’s largest entertainment agency, which manages EXO and Girl’s Generation, has confirmed that EXO’s Baekhyun and Girls’ Generation’s Taeyeon are an item.
“They have been close (as friends), but recently started to have feelings for each other. The relationship is in its early stage,” said an official from the agency.
Earlier in the day, the rumour surfaced that Taeyeon and Baekhyun have been dating for four months.
The news broke after a Korean online entertainment news outlet unveiled photos of the two in a car, supposedly on a date, that were taken around dawn near EXO’s accommodations in Seoul.
