Be cholesterol- conscious

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - BODY, MIND & SOUL -

THE Health Ministry reported in 2009 that approximately one in four deaths in government hospitals are due to heart attacks or strokes. The National Cardiovascular reported the average age of hospital admission due to heart attack is 59 while the Global Registry of Acute Coronary Events ( Grace) reported 66 years old.

A healthy, well- balanced diet becomes crucial in our fight against this deadly disease. The Health Ministry Malaysia recommends a daily intake of 3g beta- glucan from oats to help reduce cholesterol.

The daily consumption of 3g of oat beta- glucan has been proven in reducing total and LDL cholesterol levels.

Approvals from the Malaysian Health Ministry, US FDA ( Food and Drug Administration), EFSA ( European Food Safety Authority) and FSANZ ( Australia New Zealand Food Standards) have further validated the health benefits associated with oat beta- glucan.

It is the only dietary fibre currently recognised by the EFSA ( European Food Safety Authority) as being able to reduce the risk of disease.

Another important ingredient for a healthy heart is omega- 3 fatty acids. Backed by credible science, it is supported by the US FDA and EFSA years ago.

Specifically, the FDA- approved qualified health claims on conventional foods containing omega- 3 fatty acids, such as EPA and DHA, on reducing the risk of coronary heart disease way back in September 2004.

In 2010, the EFSA- approved statements that omega- 3 fatty acids ( DHA) help contribute to the maintenance of normal blood triglyceride levels.

Uncle Frankie’s favourite cholesterol- busting drink

Uncle Frankie, popularly known as Uncle Chuan in the hit movie, The Journey, has been taking BLM Oat Bran with Omega 3 daily to maintain healthy cholesterol levels.

He says: “BLM Oat Bran with Omega 3 is certainly a smarter choice. Just two scoops daily provide more than the required 3g of beta- glucan for reducing cholesterol naturally. With the addition of the omega- 3 fatty acids, you get a two- pronged approach to protecting the heart.”

Uncle Frankie was also surprised by the taste.

“The added puffed black bean powder makes it so much tastier and gives the drink the aroma of puffed grains, which I really appreciate. In fact, I look forward to drinking it every day and feel no guilt enjoying it since it has no added sugar, making it a truly healthy choice for daily consumption.”

A three- fold action formula for a robust heart

The newly launched BLM Oat Bran with Omega- 3 is the only oat bran drink combining oat beta- glucan and omega- 3 fatty acids in a single serving.

This wholesome drink is made from 100% organic oat bran powder imported from Australia, omega- 3 powder extracted from algae and puffed black bean powder.

The addition of puffed black bean powder enhances the drink’s taste to ensure that you will look forward to it each day.

Rest assured that each serving is made of supreme quality. The latest technology is used to produce the organic oat bran powder, resulting in a highly refined powder that facilitates the release of the beta- glucan into the body, which optimises its cholesterol- lowering and blood glucosestabilising effects.

In a nutshell, the powerful trio of beta- glucan, omega- 3 powder and puffed black bean powder triple the effectiveness of reducing cholesterol and provides triple the heart protection in a convenient drink.
