THE Malaysia In­ter­na­tional Retail, Fran­chise and Li­cens­ing Fair ( MIRF) will be the first of its kind to dis­play the best and most es­tab­lished retail brands in Malaysia. It aims to be­come the big­gest retail ex­hi­bi­tion in Malaysia.

Or­gan­ised by the Malaysia Retail Chain As­so­ci­a­tion ( MRCA), more than 200 booths from across Asia, in­clud­ing Sin­ga­pore, Tai­wan and Malaysia, will be par­tic­i­pat­ing in MIRF 2016.

MRCA was founded in 1992 for Malaysian chain re­tail­ers to net­work and ex­pand their busi­ness, as well as to fa­cil­i­tate the en­hance­ment of chain store man­age­ment through education and train­ing.

MRCA aims to cre­ate a highly sup­port­ive en­vi­ron­ment to build retail busi­nesses and pool ideas, ex­pe­ri­ences and ef­forts to tap into var­i­ous op­por­tu­ni­ties in Malaysia and abroad.

Its vi­sion is to be recog­nised as one of the most in­flu­en­tial retail bod­ies in Malaysia, sup­port­ing the de­vel­op­ment and glob­al­i­sa­tion of the retail in­dus­try.

Since its es­tab­lish­ment, MRCA has de­vel­oped into a strong or­gan­i­sa­tion com­pris­ing over 280 lead­ing retail chain store oper­a­tors and fran­chisors, with over 20,000 out­lets through­out Malaysia.

Th­ese mem­bers help pro­vide over 100,000 job op­por­tu­ni­ties to Malaysians across the coun­try, with this num­ber ex­pected to ex­pand. MRCA mem­bers have also suc­cess­fully ex­panded over­seas in coun­tries such as the United States, Aus­tralia, China, Africa, the Middle East and Asean coun­tries.

This year, MIRF 2016 will be one of the most an­tic­i­pated events for the year for the or­gan­i­sa­tion.

“MIRF 2016 serves as a plat­form to fur­ther their ( MRCA) con­tri­bu­tion to the retail in­dus­try. We are also aim­ing for the retail in­dus­try to help im­prove our na­tional econ­omy growth,” said MIRF 2016 or­gan­is­ing chair­man Datuk Liew Bin.

MIRF 2016 is spon­sored by Sam­sung and en­dorsed by the Min­istry of Do­mes­tic Trade, Co- Op­er­a­tives and Con­sumerism ( KPDNKK) as well as the Malaysia Ex­ter­nal Trade De­vel­op­ment Cor­po­ra­tion ( Ma­trade).

It is also sup­ported by the Min­istry of Tourism and Cul­ture, Malaysia Con­ven­tion and Ex­hi­bi­tion Bureau ( MyCEB), Sec­re­tar­iat for the Ad­vance­ment of Malaysian En­trepreneurs ( SAME), Hong Kong Trade De­vel­op­ment Coun­cil ( HKTDC), Ja­pan Ex­ter­nal Trade Or­ga­ni­za­tion ( JETRO Kuala Lumpur) and the As­so­ci­ated Chi­nese Cham­bers of Com­merce and In­dus­try of Malaysia ( ACCCIM).

MIRF 2016 will be held from March 3 to 6 at Mid Val­ley Ex­hi­bi­tion Cen­tre ( MVEC) in Kuala Lumpur. The ex­hi­bi­tion will open to trade vis­i­tors on the first day and to the pub­lic on the fol­low­ing days.

The fair aims to be­come Malaysia’s largest and most ex­cit­ing retail, fran­chise and li­cens­ing fair, and is ex­pected to at­tract more than 30,000 vis­i­tors through­out the four- day event.

Themed “Un­leash­ing Bor­der­less Busi­ness Op­por­tu­ni­ties”, MIRF 2016 aims to bring about more busi­ness and net­work­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties for Malaysians, show­case ca­pa­ble brands from var­i­ous in­dus­tries, of­fer con­sumer pro­mo­tions from all ex­hibitors and serve as an in­te­grated plat­form to pro­mote e- tail­ing.

MIRF 2016 also aims to com­ple­ment the needs of ev­ery retail pro­fes­sional with var­i­ous ed­u­ca­tional fea­tures and busi­ness net­work­ing op­por­tu­ni­ties by fea­tur­ing side events and at­trac­tions. Th­ese in­clude stage ac­tiv­i­ties, in­vestor fo­rums, pro­mo­tions and of­fers, food sam­pling, prod­uct demon­stra­tions and many more to cre­ate ex­cite­ment and en­gage­ment be­tween ex­hibitors and vis­i­tors.

Ex­hibitors and trade part­ners are in­vited to an ex­hibitors net­work­ing night at the St Giles, The Gar­dens Grand Ball­room on March 3. This din­ner event is be­ing or­gan­ised to strengthen busi­ness re­la­tion­ships and open doors for new busi­ness op­por­tu­ni­ties.

In con­junc­tion with MIRF 2016, the one- day MRCA Retail Con­fer­ence will be held on March 2 at St Giles, The Gar­dens.
