Unleashing borderless business opportunities
THE Malaysia International Retail, Franchise and Licensing Fair ( MIRF) will be the first of its kind to display the best and most established retail brands in Malaysia. It aims to become the biggest retail exhibition in Malaysia.
Organised by the Malaysia Retail Chain Association ( MRCA), more than 200 booths from across Asia, including Singapore, Taiwan and Malaysia, will be participating in MIRF 2016.
MRCA was founded in 1992 for Malaysian chain retailers to network and expand their business, as well as to facilitate the enhancement of chain store management through education and training.
MRCA aims to create a highly supportive environment to build retail businesses and pool ideas, experiences and efforts to tap into various opportunities in Malaysia and abroad.
Its vision is to be recognised as one of the most influential retail bodies in Malaysia, supporting the development and globalisation of the retail industry.
Since its establishment, MRCA has developed into a strong organisation comprising over 280 leading retail chain store operators and franchisors, with over 20,000 outlets throughout Malaysia.
These members help provide over 100,000 job opportunities to Malaysians across the country, with this number expected to expand. MRCA members have also successfully expanded overseas in countries such as the United States, Australia, China, Africa, the Middle East and Asean countries.
This year, MIRF 2016 will be one of the most anticipated events for the year for the organisation.
“MIRF 2016 serves as a platform to further their ( MRCA) contribution to the retail industry. We are also aiming for the retail industry to help improve our national economy growth,” said MIRF 2016 organising chairman Datuk Liew Bin.
MIRF 2016 is sponsored by Samsung and endorsed by the Ministry of Domestic Trade, Co- Operatives and Consumerism ( KPDNKK) as well as the Malaysia External Trade Development Corporation ( Matrade).
It is also supported by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture, Malaysia Convention and Exhibition Bureau ( MyCEB), Secretariat for the Advancement of Malaysian Entrepreneurs ( SAME), Hong Kong Trade Development Council ( HKTDC), Japan External Trade Organization ( JETRO Kuala Lumpur) and the Associated Chinese Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Malaysia ( ACCCIM).
MIRF 2016 will be held from March 3 to 6 at Mid Valley Exhibition Centre ( MVEC) in Kuala Lumpur. The exhibition will open to trade visitors on the first day and to the public on the following days.
The fair aims to become Malaysia’s largest and most exciting retail, franchise and licensing fair, and is expected to attract more than 30,000 visitors throughout the four- day event.
Themed “Unleashing Borderless Business Opportunities”, MIRF 2016 aims to bring about more business and networking opportunities for Malaysians, showcase capable brands from various industries, offer consumer promotions from all exhibitors and serve as an integrated platform to promote e- tailing.
MIRF 2016 also aims to complement the needs of every retail professional with various educational features and business networking opportunities by featuring side events and attractions. These include stage activities, investor forums, promotions and offers, food sampling, product demonstrations and many more to create excitement and engagement between exhibitors and visitors.
Exhibitors and trade partners are invited to an exhibitors networking night at the St Giles, The Gardens Grand Ballroom on March 3. This dinner event is being organised to strengthen business relationships and open doors for new business opportunities.
In conjunction with MIRF 2016, the one- day MRCA Retail Conference will be held on March 2 at St Giles, The Gardens. The conference will be divided into three key sessions which consist of the keynote session, Session One ( discussion on the current trends of the retail industry) and Session Two ( e- tailing and technology industry).
Tickets to this full- day conference are now on sale at RM350 ( MRCA members) and RM399 ( non- MRCA members). Exhibitors, members and non- members are invited to join this inaugural conference.
