GREAT East­ern Life As­sur­ance ( Malaysia) Ber­had ( Great East­ern Life)’ s ap­pli­ca­tions for the Great East­ern Supremacy Schol­ar­ship Awards 2016 are open from March 1 to 31 to Malaysian stu­dents.

Great East­ern Life will be of­fer­ing 15 to 18 schol­ar­ships worth RM1.5mil for ter­tiary education in lo­cal pub­lic and pri­vate univer­si­ties.

The qual­i­fied re­cip­i­ents, who will pur­sue stud­ies in lo­cal pub­lic or pri­vate univer­si­ties, will re­ceive RM15,000 and RM25,000 per aca­demic year re­spec­tively for tu­ition and liv­ing ex­penses.

Since its in­cep­tion in 1998, 149 schol­ar­ships worth more than RM10.6mil have been awarded by the com­pany in its con­tri­bu­tion to­wards nur­tur­ing the tal­ents of the na­tion’s fu­ture lead­ers. Great East­ern Life is now look­ing for the next Great East­ern Supremacy Schol­ars who have what it takes to re­alise their dreams with the schol­ar­ship sup­port.

Can­di­dates will go through as­sess­ments com­pris­ing in­ter­views, a writ­ten as­sess­ment and group pre­sen­ta­tion.

Great East­ern Life is of­fer­ing the schol­ar­ship in a wide spec­trum of ca­reer op­tions such as ac­tu­ar­ial sci­ence, ac­count­ing and fi­nance, in­sur­ance stud­ies, law, biomed­i­cal, mass com­mu­ni­ca­tion, busi­ness ad­min­is­tra­tion, mar­ket­ing, eco­nom­ics, math­e­mat­ics, sta­tis­tics, en­gi­neer­ing, op­er­a­tional re­search, in­for­ma­tion tech­nol­ogy, hu­man re­source man­age­ment, psy­chol­ogy, de­ci­sion sci­ence and risk man­age­ment.

Great East­ern Supremacy Schol­ars will ben­e­fit from the awards, which will al­low them to pur­sue a promis­ing ca­reer de­vel­op­ment upon grad­u­a­tion.

The an­nual Great East­ern Supremacy Schol­ar­ship Awards is part of Great East­ern Life’s ef­fort in de­vel­op­ing tal­ent for the fi­nan­cial sec­tor, in line with the na­tion’s Fi­nan­cial Sec­tor Blue­print.

The blue­print’s ob­jec­tive is to evolve a fi­nan­cial ecosys­tem that will best serve a high val­ueadded, high- in­come Malaysian econ­omy.

Great East­ern Life has been recog­nised for the sev­enth con­sec­u­tive year in the Malaysia’s 100 Lead­ing Grad­u­ate Em­ployer 2015 list, which is a tes­ta­ment to it be­ing one of the best work­places in Malaysia.

Great East­ern Life be­gan its op­er­a­tions in 1908 as a branch of­fice of The Great East­ern Life As­sur­ance Com­pany Lim­ited.

The Malaysian op­er­a­tions were sub­se­quently trans­ferred to a lo­cally in­cor­po­rated pub­lic com­pany, Great East­ern Life As­sur­ance ( Malaysia) Ber­had un­der the Scheme of Trans­fer of Busi­ness.

The com­pany was cer­ti­fied by The Malaysia Book of Records in 1998 as the old­est and largest life in­surer in Malaysia.

Great East­ern Life’s prod­ucts in­clude life in­sur­ance plans, in­vest­ment- linked plans, mort­gage pro­tec­tion, busi­ness pro­tec­tion, em­ployee ben­e­fits, med­i­cal in­sur­ance and group health ben­e­fit schemes.

Great East­ern Life As­sur­ance ( Malaysia) Ber­had is a wholly owned sub­sidiary of Great East­ern Hold­ings Lim­ited ( GEH) and its ul­ti­mate hold­ing com­pany is Oversea- Chi­nese Bank­ing Cor­po­ra­tion Lim­ited ( OCBC).

Great East­ern Hold­ings Ltd is the old­est and most es­tab­lished life in­sur­ance group in Sin­ga­pore and Malaysia.

It was named Life In­sur­ance Com­pany of the Year at the Asia In­sur­ance In­dus­try Awards in 2011 and 2013 by Asia In­sur­ance Re­view.
