A DOUBLE helix structure? Can the symbolism be any more obvious? Allegiant isn’t big on subtlety though some lines, delivered with a straight face, will likely strike a chord in many because it is, at its core, a reflection of our world. “Leaders have to make tough decisions to protect their people” – is this a reason or an excuse?
However, the most interesting thing in Allegiant, to me, is really not what the characters say or do. Rather, it is discovering how all the fancy gadgets in the movie work. At multiple points in Allegiant, the third installment in the Divergent series, it feels like it has run out of things to say. But what it lacks in ideas, it makes up with cool- looking inventions accompanied by sound effects that really fit well. So it is all well and good – but is this really how we want it to be?
