VW Golf gets value- for-money up­grades

VOLK­SWA­GEN Malaysia has in­tro­duced the facelifted Golf and sweet­ens it with added fea­tures.

Avail­able in two vari­ants, the car is also priced lower.

The Golf Highline costs RM159,888 and the Golf Com­fort­line is sold at RM149,888.

The en­gine has been tweaked to pro­duce 10hp more to 150hp and a max­i­mum torque of 250Nm comes in as low as 1,500rpm.

The 1.4- litre TSI tur­bocharged di­rect petrol in­jec­tion 4- cylin­der petrol en­gine is paired with a 7- speed Di­rect Shift Gear­box ( DSG) en­abling it to ac­cel­er­ate from 0 to 100kph in 8.2 sec­onds and reach­ing a top speed of 216kph.

Fuel con­sump­tion is rated at 5 litres/ 100km.

The up­graded Golf 1.4 Highline comes with Key­less En­try & Push Start ( KESSY) en­gine start- up tech­nol­ogy, Park As­sist and Rest As­sist.

It also gets new 17- inch Madrid wheels, LED tail lights and new sport seats with “Mel Stripe” fab­ric for bet­ter grip and hold.

The Golf is avail­able in Lime­stone Grey, Sun­set Red, Pure White, Deep Black, Pa­cific Blue and Tung­sten Sil­ver.

The Golf was “World Car of the Year” in 2009 and 2013.

The Golf en­gine now gains 10hp more.
