Rush Hour

The Star Malaysia - Star2 - - WHAT TO WATCH - Angelin Yeoh

RUSH Hour the movie series, starring Jackie Chan and Chris Tucker, was a major box office success. The franchise made over US$ 800mil ( RM3.2bil). Chan stars as the silent type whose hands take down baddies faster than Tucker’s motor mouth. The movie worked because of Chan and Tucker’s excellent chemistry as the unlikely cop duo.

However, the same can’t be said about the TV series. IrishChinese actor Jon Foo is horribly miscast in Chan’s role while Justin Hires seems like he is trying too hard to be just like Tucker. Together, the duo just seem odd and can’t really deliver on the humour. The jokes about Foo’s character as the straight- laced Asian cop also seem dated. But if you like action, Rush Hour does have some great fight sequences. Foo keeps his tie neatly in place while kicking butt, flying off walls and dodging bullets at the same time. Rush Hour will make you wish that Foo gets his own TV show.
