Incarnate
CALL me a traditionalist, but I believe that demon-possession movies without a religious bent are missing a huge piece of the puzzle. It’s like having pizza without the cheese. And that missing ingredient is exactly what I was hoping to see in Brad Peyton’s horror flick Incarnate.
Adopting a more innovative and, shall we say, Inception- esque approach, Incarnate follows the journey of Dr Seth Ember (Aaron Eckhart), a man with the ability to enter the subconscious mind of a possessed person and evict the
entity from within. However, he comes across a powerful demon who now resides within the body of a young boy (David Mazouz).
Sure, the idea of exorcising the demon from the inside is interesting. But the concept is nothing new. Also, when you have a protagonist who is wheelchair-bound, brooding and talks in a whisper, you cannot help but wonder: why are filmmakers still flogging a dead horse?
Here are several pointers to help you decide whether or not you should catch this movie. Predictable. Clichéd. Aaron Eckhart. Need I say more? –
