This ex­hi­bi­tion fea­tures over 100 artworks by lo­cal ce­ram­i­cist Cheah Yeow Seng, and will be of­fi­ci­ated by Cheah Yew Saik, renowned artist and founder of the Kuala Lumpur Col­lege of Art, on Satur­day at 3pm. Ad­mis­sion is free. Time: 11am-5pm (closed on Mon­days).

The ce­ram­i­cist draws in­spi­ra­tion from the fe­male fig­ure, build­ings and na­ture, among oth­ers. He will demon­strate the mak­ing of clay art, on June 10 and 17 (3pm-4.15pm) at Soka Ex­hi­bi­tion Hall.

SUN­DAY TILL JUNE 15:

The ex­hi­bi­tion of coloured pen­cil artworks by Sharon Kow Siew Suan (Pe­nang) and up­com­ing artists Fara­mas and Sol­maz Pes­sian, from Iran, opens at 11am this Sun­day. The Re­fin­ery hopes to pro­mote and pop­u­larise the use of coloured pen­cils as a medium for artists and the pub­lic; and en­cour­age the younger gen­er­a­tion, es­pe­cially school­go­ing chil­dren, to take up the chal­lenge and ex­cel in this medium of art. It also hopes that this ex­hi­bi­tion will en­cour­age more art collectors to view and col­lect coloured pen­cil art. Twenty-four coloured pen­cil artworks will be ex­hib­ited, and prints of orig­i­nal artworks will be on sale. Time: 11am-7pm. There will also be a free work­shop with the artists on June 10 (10am-1pm). All work­shop ma­te­ri­als will be pro­vided by Faber Castell Malaysia.

Nic­tar Farm is a theme park that aims to ed­u­cate the pub­lic on na­ture, ecol­ogy and farm­ing ac­tiv­i­ties. There will be shar­ing ses­sions, work­shops and Green U Mar­ket. The first orig­i­nal Asian pro­duc­tion to ap­pear on Broad­way, Soul Of Shaolin is a mar­tial arts show star­ring per­form­ers who are trained in Shaolin kung fu. This pro­duc­tion re-en­acts the story of a baby, Hui Guang, who is sep­a­rated from his mother when she is pur­sued by ban­dits. The child is res­cued and raised by tem­ple monks who teach him Shaolin kung fu. En­joy the vis­ual dis­plays of true phys­i­cal prow­ess and fol­low one man’s jour­ney to find­ing in­ner peace, love and fam­ily. Tick­ets: RM156, RM126 and RM96 (sub­ject to RM4 pro­cess­ing fee). KL SAPE’ COL­LEC­TIVE

Formed in 2016, the KL Sape’ Col­lec­tive com­prises sape train­ers and solo sape mu­si­cians who have played in var­i­ous fes­ti­vals and events around the world. The sape is a tra­di­tional lute of the Orang Ulu of Sarawak. The col­lec­tive is a plat­form for them to bring to­gether their in­di­vid­ual skills and styles to present mu­sic from the Kenyah, Ke­labit (Orang Ulu) and Iban tribes of Bor­neo.

Cur­rently based in KL, the mu­si­cians in the group are Alena Mu­rang, An­der­son Kalang, Saufi Ai­man Yahya, Rose­mary Colony Joel, Mu­nirih Jebeni and Saufi Ai­man Yahya. The show will also fea­ture Ro­drigo Parejo (flute). Showtime: 10pm. Tick­ets: RM53.
