WAWASAN Open University (WOU) is offering an affordable Diploma in Early Childhood Education (DECE) programme via Open Distance Learning (ODL) with the aim of providing professional upgrading opportunities for existing and would-be teachers working in childcare and pre-schools centres. The DECE programme will enable them to fulfil the Ministry of Education’s (MOE) requirement for preschool teachers. As a caring university, WOU offers a special fee promotion to all new students who enrol for the DECE programme in the upcoming parttime study July intake. Students will only pay less than RM10,000 for their three-year diploma programme at WOU.

Jennifer Alberto from Ipoh is in the pioneer batch of students who have enrolled for the DECE programme in January.

“This programme was recommended to me by the Kindergarten Teachers’ Association, Perak. Through DECE, I find creative ways to help children learn the skills they need for their intellectual, emotional and physical development,” she said.

The DECE programme prepares her with the necessary skills, which help to cultivate healthy growth in children, shaping their lives and the communities they live in for the better.

“To succeed in an early childhood education career, we must be patient, creative and love helping young children learn. I have been given a chance to explore, build my dreams and motivate children with experience of my own. To be an educator, it takes mountains of patience and oceans of love.
