Veep Season Six
IF you thought Selina Meyer (Julia Louis-Dreyfus) was hilarious as the president, she’s even funnier (in a really tragic way) as the fallen president who has lost most of her teammates (although they are still featured plenty in the show, thankfully).
Also, thank goodness the showrunners decided to have Selina lose the election at the end of Season Five – before Donald Trump took office – because even the best writers could not make a bumbling Selina worse than the real bumbling McCoy and his team. So this season, real-life comparisons don’t come into play without sacrificing the quality of the show and its jokes.
So instead we have Selina wanting to publish her memoir by enlisting Mike McLintock (Matt Walsh) to write it. While going through the important moments of her life, Selina discovers that everything she thought she knew about her father was a lie – he sold her precious horse when she was a girl, he cheated on her mother and was never really there for her.
Gary (Tony Hale), still her assistant, continues to fawn over her while she, in turn, continues to disregard him. It’s still great comedy. –
Veep Season Six airs Mondays at 10.30am on HBO (Astro Ch 411).
Former president Selina Meyer (Louis-Dreyfus) and her assistant Gary (Hale) continue to regale us with laughter this season.
