SMART fitness wearable devices are fast gaining popularity with features such as smart activity tracking, heart rate sensor and protection against the elements.

Jabra Elite Sport, which is now available here, is the first device in the Danish company’s new Elite series of wireless headphones.

Elite Sport comes in the form of two wireless earbuds, with the advantage of liberating users from cords which tend to get into the way and restrict movement while exercising.

The earbuds have two microphones each which can filter external noises with the noise cancellation technology for better call quality or open up the user to voices of the surrounding while plugged in. Users can opt to use both the earbuds at the same time or just a single unit.

Also included in the small-sized earbuds is the build-in heart rate monitor, which Jabra claims to offer readings that are up to 90% accurate. The earbuds are connected to a smartphone via Bluetooth and can be controlled with the Jabra Sport Life app which is available for Android and iOS.

The app includes fitness tracking statistics such distance covered, pace, route, calories burnt, as well as other custom activities such as cross training and V02Max (maximal oxygen consumption) test.

Jabra claims that the device will be able to offer three hours of usage with a single charge, and a 20-minute charge is equivalent to about one hour of battery life.

The carrying case which is bundled along with the earbuds offers an additional six hours of charge. Users can simply plug the earbuds in to recharge on the go.

Being a fitness device, protection against sweat is an essential and Elite Sport has IP67 water resistance certification. Not only that, the device comes with three year warranty against sweat, which the company claims to be the most extensive coverage available for similar products in the market.

The Elite Sport retails at RM1,259 at selected retailers and Jabra resellers nationwide.

As part of an ongoing promotion with e-commerce platform Lazada, every purchase of Jabra Sports products (Elite, Pulse, Coach and Pace) will be entitled to a free Pineng 20,000mAh power bank worth RM79. Promotion ends on June 30.
