Back for good
BRITISH actress Cush Jumbo was getting ready to return to London after The Good Wife finished its run last year when she learned of its spin-off. “I was meant to go back to London for another job, so I kind of quit that job to do The Good Fight because it seemed too exciting of an idea,” she told Entertainment Tonight. The Good Fight does away with Alicia Florrick’s storyline and opens with Diane Lockhart’s (Christine Baranski); Diane has to rebuild herself at a new law firm after losing all her savings in a financial scam. There, she meets Alicia’s good friend Lucca Quinn, played by Jumbo. The 31-year-old actress shares that the spin-off will show a different side to the sassy, fast-talking lawyer she portrays. “Lucca’s so competent and put-together and leading the pack at work, but when it comes to building any kind of friendship or relationship, she’s kind of odd and we’re working out why that is.” Jumbo said she had one criteria for creators Robert and Michelle King prior to joining the series: “I don’t want to do something that doesn’t do the legacy justice and something that doesn’t reflect well on what you’ve already achieved.” The fact that the show has been renewed for a second season means the fight is only going to get better. – Kenneth Chaw
The Good Fight airs every Wednesday at 10pm on Star World (Astro Ch 711).
