Malaysian singer Gary Chaw among judges on The Voice
SINGAPOREAN singer-songwriter Hanjin Tan, 41, is one of the four judges of the inaugural Singapore/Malaysia edition of the singing show, The Voice.
He has written and produced for top stars such as Sammi Cheng and Eason Chan from Hong Kong, and American singer Christina Aguilera.
The Hong Kong-based musician’s name was revealed along with Chinese balladeer Della Ding Dang, 34; Malaysian singersongwriter Gary Chaw, 37 (pic); and Taiwanese crooner Sky Wu, 50.
The singing contest will be hosted by Singaporean DJ Huang Wenhong and Malaysian artiste Siow Hui Mei. It premieres on Sept 17 on Astro AEC.
Last month, the show had drawn flak after calling for par- ticipants who are “fluent in Mandarin” and “able to perform Mandarin songs”.
The popular franchise, which originates from Holland, has been held around the world in various languages since 2010.
The local version is produced by Singapore-based company mm2 Entertainment and co-produced by StarHub and Astro. – The Straits Times/Asia News Network
