Where are the stars of Harry Potter now?
DID you know that it took a year for JK Rowling’s agent to find a publisher for Harry Potter And The Philosopher’s Stone ?The year was 1996 and Rowling recalled how she was ecstatic when her agent called to say Bloomsbury had offered to publish the book.
“I couldn’t believe my ears. After I had hung up, I screamed and jumped into the air. (Daughter) Jessica, who was sitting in her high chair, enjoying her tea, looked thoroughly scared.
“And the rest, as you may guess, is history,” she said in an interview with Urbanette.
It has been 20 years since Rowling’s first Harry Potter book in the series was released. Rowling went from struggling single parent to a celebrated author who weaved her magic into a much-loved lucrative franchise.
An ABC report estimated that the Harry Potter book series, movies and merchandising are worth up to US$24bil (RM103bil).
Of course, who can forget how Rowling’s creation also changed the lives of then-unknowns like Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint who played Harry Potter, Hermione Granger and Ron Weasley respectively in the movies?
