Go Fast Or Go Home
THE race towards the finish line has never been more challenging for Malaysian race car driver Daniel Woodroof than in Go Fast Or Go Home. That’s because, instead of the high-powered vehicles he’s used to, Woodroof has to compete in more traditional modes of transport.
He travels to various locations around South-East Asia to learn and take part in traditional races in this six-episode series.
One of the most interesting episodes is seeing Woodroof compete in mud cow racing in Indonesia. Woodroof stands on a wooden plough at the back of two cows, as he is dragged through a muddy field. It looks virtually impossible to master!
The show really offers a unique, eyeopening look at the various cultural practices in South-East Asia.
In another episode, Woodroof heads to Thailand and races in a long tail boat. Powered by an engine, the only way to steer the boat is by leaning one’s body to the left or the right.
Before he even gets to practise racing on the boat, he is tasked to empty a boat filled with water using just a sponge. It takes an hour but he accepts all these in stride.
Woodroof has a wide-eyed, sunshiny vibe about him and actually has a real knack for hosting. With his boyish good looks and rich speaking voice, he has a bright future in front of the camera besides the race track. – Kenneth Chaw Go Fast Or Go Home is available on dimsum.
